Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) idle speed?

my 98. 5 idles at 900 rpm in nuetral and 800 rpm in drive. 900 seems to high to me or is that how its suppose to be.

mines @ 850, I'd like it to be 900.

why would you want it so high? i figured the lower rpm the better for fuel consumtion.

with the low stall converters and big injectors/lines the lopey idle causes stalling if its too low.

Mine has always idled like yours. Stock sticks, Mach 1. 6 sticks and present Mach 5's, stock VP and new VP (SO=stock) and stock trans and later DTT. 900 & 800 is fine and normal.
