Anyone know of a secret to get my idle down? Acc. to the tach I am at ~900rpm. It sounds too high and feels too high. I went to adjust it and it was not touching the idle screw, therefore too high. I can push the assembly rearward and force it to idle lower, but it rebounds right back to the higher rpm. I know these trucks like to idle down over time so I was a little surprised. There are two springs that can be seen at the bottom of the pump and all appears ok. The foot pedal pressure feels a little strong from past experience but it may actually be correct for these engines.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks

Sounds like you have a worn or frayed cable. I believe there is a TSB/recall for some of our year trucks for this failure, not sure if yours is included. Might be worth calling a dodge dealer with your vin and seeing if there are any recalls or such. .

someone else will prolly chime in with the correct info

good luck

Both my '02 idles around 850-900 most all the time and it sounds normal.

My '96 though usually idles around 700 rpm in park or neutral, but sometimes it will jump up to 900 or so when it gets to NOP. It sounds kinda high to me too when it does that. My cable sits normal though. Always drops to ~550 in gear.
