OK, I have lost the archives post on the idle up module with switch(I think it was from practical solutions) does anyone have the post on this? You mount the switch on top of the steering column for 1250 rpm idle. My birthday is coming up and wanting to add this to my 01 2500.

This falls under that set of ideas that I just don't want to pay someone else to make for me. I guess I am just loosing my drive to fabricate stuff... . #ad

I looked out the window just now, saw more ### snow falling and said to myself... . 'who is kidding who, you will not make that idle up gadget before next winter and you will not make if for less than they did (for a one off)'...

If only it was adjustable for the high idle speed. Oh well, time to dig for the credit card...

A couple of us are working on a system to hook up to the stock cruise control. I've got one on my pickup right now. Two buttons, one throttles "up" the other throttles "down". Too sensitive right now though, one little tap gives it quite abit of throttle. I just drove to Florida and back with it. Helped the mileage some, plus it's nice to idle up when you want. Once I figure out how to make one tap give you 1 or 2 mph instead of 5 or 10, I'll really be happy with it.

Powder, Thats exactly what my international work truck has on it. It has two rocker switches, one for cruise/throttle on and off. The other for Throttle up Throttle down. Nice looking rocker switches, i imagine they would be cheap at an International dealer. If you interested they are in a 1997 4700 series with the DT466E motor. Just thought i would let you know

Well the high idle kit is installed... . it was extremely easy, even though i am completely engine iliterate, Gordon was a great help when i had a question.

The kit works great, when i flip the switch i get around 1200 rpm's. .

thanks Gordon for the great product and the help

Cooker,
I just bought a universal locking throttle cable at my Napa dealer for $15 and used it. I drilled a hole next to my cup holder and mounted it there. Then I ran the cable down to the bottom of the dash(on the inside, not outside). After shortening the cable and making a small clamp to secure the housing to the bottom of the dash, I ran a piece of decorative(very small) chain from the cable end and wrapped the other end around the top of the footfeet mechanism then fastened with a piece of wire. The mechanism gets larger as it goes down so the chain won't slide down.
It took about 30 minutes to do and now I can set my idle speed wherever I want it. Just push your foot to where you want the rpm's then pull the cable back and lock it.
I wish I had a digital camera, a picture is worth a thousand words, probably two thousand the way I try to explain things... LOL.

What is the point of idling at 1200 RPM or so? On my truck EGT's are not much higher than idle at 1200 RPM. Don't you need 450* or higher to get a full burn and not wash the cylinder walls? Thanks for any info.
