Ok I looked them up and they are approved by Bosch. Dropped the truck back off and they're going to do the rebuild and check the injectors for me. Should have it back in a week. Thanks everyone for the assistance!

Experience is not everything, but definitely required before I will let anyone touch any of my pumps. Either I do it, or, if I'm too busy to get to it(I have to go slow as I'm not very experienced, myself), I use a guy that's had his own shop for 30+ years. I've had few problems with him, and he usually has a very quick turnaround. Only he and one other guy do the pumps, in an enclosed room, AC and heated. He's rebuilt several, and they've always ran better afterwards than before. I think that's due to the updated parts, but it makes me feel better about the check I just wrote him... ...

Well, I had the IP repaired and the injectors brought up to specs. The shop i took it to was top notch and properly diagnosed the issues and had the repairs done in a timely manner. It wasn't cheap, but the truck runs so much better so it was worth it. Thanks everyone for the help!

Well I may have spoke too soon. As i mentioned i picked the truck up on Friday and it ran with no issues the remainder of that day, and all day yesterday. Today i traveled 140 miles back to the metro Detroit area where i work for the week. The truck went down the road with no issues, I had the AC on, and was running about 55-60 MPH. Once i pulled off at my exit and came to the stop light the truck dropped RPM's again and was doing the same shake, real low lopping issue i had in my O. P. :{

I quickly turned the AC off and that seemed to help some, however it still had the shakes and shudder on take off for the next few stop lights. Once i got to my place of residence i popped the hood and noticed a couple of things. 1. the lift pump had a noticeable wet spot below where it mounts to the engine on the engine block. I ran my finger through it and around the lift pump and it was definitely diesel fuel. 2. there was a small droplet of fuel that had formed on what looks like a return line on the injection pump. its the line that closest to the timing case. It tried tightening the nut, but it wasnt loose at all.

I want to know if a leaking lift pump can cause these issue that i mentioned in my O. P. ? Very frustrated that i dropped alot of money on a repair that didn't fix the issues i was having :mad:.

Sorry for the long post and I appreciate the help!

I seriously doubt a small fuel leak would cause that problem..... If it had a quick drip or stream, perhaps it could, but I don't think a slow drip or seep is going to do it... . I had one two years ago that was leaking 4-5gallons an hour, and if you primed it, it would start and run fine..... Those old pumps are pretty tough, and certainly a marvel of engineering, but I don't think the pump is your problem, or you would be having issues at full throttle and highway speeds... . Well, at least your pump "should" be good for a few more miles... . :(

Take it back to the IP shop!!!

I hope you have already. That's all I could think of if it ran well for awhile. I hope it all resolves well. ;) I had to have my pump rebuild after it leaked a few years and got worse... good workmanship so far. Diesel injection service, San Bernardino, Southern CA.

I really believe they should make it good for you and your rig, no charge.

I agree, I have had leak at both the pump, the LP, and the LP down to 1-2 psi and it idled fine. Doesn't take much fuel to make them idle.

Unless they totally messed up the pump rebuild, I think the problem is somewhere else but hard to tell without driving it myself.

Dont trust a shop because its a " ADS " member i got a bad one and they wont warrenty it either , If there is a govorning body let me know , Im out a $1000. 00

I called the shop today, explained the issue and they said they will stand by their work. I wont be able to bring it in until friday so we will see!

I had that problem and had to replace my bypass valve on my pump . one time it was letting so much fuel through the fuel pump started hammering while idling so I tightened up the spring in the bypass to stop that . low fuel pressure may be the problem. at 288k it's happened a few times.
