In order to adjust the idle at 750 to 800 rpm in drive with an automatic transmission A/C on, it idles in park at 1000 rpm, which seems too high for me. Otherwise, I end up setting it at 650 rpm in drive with an automatic transmission A/C on, it idles in park at 900 rpm.

According to receipts that came with the vehicle when I bought it in 2011, the original owner had 60 lbs valve springs, BD torque converter in stalled in 2001. The idle has been as it is since a replacement p-pump from Austin Fuel Injection was installed with a #8 fuel plate in 2018. It accelerates very well and the 47re shifts smoothly.

Seems like something in the pumps governor assembly could be amiss.. improperly balanced governor springs do wacky things with your idle adjustments.

How often, while driving, are you in park or neutral? At 650 rpm the AC works terrible while driving in town and the heat won't work well in the winter. Also, in the winter it won't idle very well while in gear until the engine gets to operating temp. I have my idle set a bit higher than the spec for those very reasons.

Typically it's not at idle more than two minutes in park or neutral.

I have watched the video on the springs, interesting to say the lest. I did mine from the side, left the springs in and done a .050 from the top of the stud to the top of the adjuster, this allows me to use a high RPM of 3K if I need it but I don't go there, usually I stay lower because I don't want to hurt my engine. This I found through my reading other post on this adjustment, and found this works for me. Good to know it can be done from the top, I made my own tool like his for adjusting this adjuster, along time ago.
I also set my idle at around 775, manual trans with AC, works for me.
