Airdog II install ??

I am replacing my alternator at 102,000 miles. While I am doing the job would it a be a good idea to replace the idler pulley at the same time? No current issues except the belt rides one notch off center and has since the A/C compressor froze and toasted the belt. Not needing the A/C in coastal southern California I chose to save $$ & just buy a shorter belt and bypass the compressor. I'll change out the idler pulley during the alternator change if the bearing is known to fail starting at around 100K miles.
Thanks!

I'd double check and see if the tensioner is bad. If you can wiggle the pulley, it's the bearings, if not, it may be the tensioner. If you have the belt on and look closely, you might see the tensioner cocked. There is a plastic bushing inside that wears out and lets it ride sideways. This runs the belt off the next pulley in line.

if your belt is off one notch i would replace it. . my 2000 i had when they would go bad it would shred and eat half the belt, i learned to keep a spare in the truck... i replaced 2 on that truck and since having the 92 only one change but they are not hard to change out on either, good luck
