Would you buy another Diesel Pickup at $5.00/gallon

Fuel overpriced?

What would you choose if you had all these choices and couldn't have the Cummins???? I know, I know, it would be a very sad world, but if you had to make a choice, what would it be?

Edit: By the way, this would be in a new '06 Dodge truck... ... ... I'd take a Big Block chevy over the rest!

Shoot! how do you edit the Poll, that should be an 8. 1L chevy!

Not sure, but it would DEFINATELY be an inline 6, possibly from International, John Deere, CAT, Mercedes or Isuzu.

If I had to choose between the duramaxipad or the pukiechoke 6 liter, I would choose the d-max.

Duramax (2006 hp specs) wouldn't be too bad as long as it was coupled to the Allison, had a 100,000 mile warranty and rattled a bit more.

Depends on what diesel Dodge offered and if the Cummins went anywhere else. I swore off Fords after my 93, but if the Cummins appeared under the hood of an F350 and Ford left the Cummins ECM alone as Dodge did, I'd have to give it strong consideration. If Dodge offered a competitive Detroit or MB medium-duty diesel, I'd probably stay with the Ram.

If the next-gen GM heavy duty trucks return to solid axle 4x4s (and some decent footwear), I'd give a Silv/Sierra Duramax-Allison a serious once over. If they stay IFS, no chance.

If it's just a matter of Ford and GM trucks as they exist and Dodge with no diesel at all, I'd probably go with a Hemi Ram 2500... much as I'd hate to give up my extra back tires.

VIPER V10!!!! for sure, loads of power, substancial torque. Still not a Cummins but next best thing. I love DODGE and will stick with em, i have had a 1978 M880 military pickup with a 360, and have a 74 Charger with 318 i am trying to sell for financial reasons, and then my 02 2500. Dodge has always been good to me, and i actually know roughly how to work on em.

Since we are taking a poll, I will stay with the choices given. A MB inline 6 or 5 will be more reliable than any of the other choices. It may lack on some power but reliability is most important to me. Kind of funny that I say that, considering I had to do a motor swap with the CUMMINS.

I went D-max. I'm considering buying one for a daily driver since my wife stole my 04. 5:mad:;) Meantime, I'm poking around in my 400,000 mile 91 d-250 reg cab cummins and enjoying the 24mpg:D

MB has a long history of diesel engines and I have to believe that they could build an engine that would be the class of the truck motors, not saying that they would but that they could.

Cummings saved Dodge's from extent

I would say Dodge would not be on the market today without Cummings. Why did It take so long for Chevy to get there head out of there butt with the diesel. Sometimes they act like they don't care what the public wants. I still think a small truck with a diesel that gets 50 miles per gallon would be a hit. Fuel mileage Is a must today. Well Looks and fuel mileage would win hands down. :-laf Now this picture Is a cheap way to go and you might see In the fucture?

I voted MB. I agree with Holzarbeiter except that if Dodge ever put another diesel engine in, the power would have to remain competitive with GM and Ford.
