I switched to synthetics last year a 85k, I'm now at 124,000 miles with no problems.



You don't need to flush your system. I would recommend letting you truck drain over night. This allows more of your old oil to drain out. When I replace my trannie fluid or oil I drain over night.

If you have been very good with your oil change intervals (like me every 3,000 miles) you won't need to flush anything. I switched to Amsoil 45,000 miles ago and no problems.

I would say no, unless you have a lot of miles on your truck. I would also let your truck drain over night on any oil change. It lets all of the old crap to drain out of the system

I'll change her over and mayber run her for 1,000 or so and then change her again. I've been changing my oil every 3,000 since I've owned her and that's been between 45K and the 80K she has know.

The synthetic oils that are rated for use in our diesals are compatible with non synthetic oils. Just change the oil as you normally do-Don't waste your money changing the synthetic after 1,000 miles. You can never get all the old oil out anyway appx 1 pint will remain in engine on metal parts no matter what you do.

At 10k I switched to Amsoil synthetic. They make an engine flush for flushing the system before putting in the synthetic. It is really inexpensive and you really have nothing to loose if you use it but I don't think it would be necessary unless you had not been diligent in changing your petroleum based oil. Amsoil is compatible with the petroleum based oils so there shouldn't be any problems with any oil you didn't get flushed out. You'll never regret changing to the synthetics.
