Oh it's proven allright ... . and what do you think it'l cost too 60 grand or so? Soccer mom's in a rig with torque ... just what the world needs. Don't get me wrong the thing is awesome but ..... The Dakota Diesel IS coming . . at some point
Like I said, cost wise, I would probably pick a diesel Durango over a Rescue for in town use. I have no use for a Dakota pickup, diesel or other wise. I don't consider the dakota's much of a benefit to me, My Ram serves any need I have for a pickup. I don't care for mini or mid size trucks, too light for the heavy loads I haul often.
Considering the cost of most vehicles in the diesel category (Hummer, Excursion, Suburban) I bet the Rescue will be based at $40,000 or better. Price doesn't concern the market they will be targeting with it though.
Both the Hummer H1, Excursion and Suburban are too cumbersome for daily parking etc. The Rescue looks like a shorter wheebase than any of these and has a much better turning radius I am sure. For Rural America, I see alot for the Rescue platform, which is where we live.
Soccer mom's NEED nothing more than a four door car or wagon, no matter what you do, they will WANT the biggest most rediculous thing that they can get to schlup a boat load of kids around in. Its the arrogance of suburbia that's to blame, not the SUV's they adopted from the Utility industry they were designed for such as road crews, logging, and the like. Give the Soccer mom's all the torque they want, Darwinism will sort it out for them easier.
