Dodge Cummins 5.9 Diesel Stainless Steel Header

Need help planning deep sea fishing Tx or Mexico

Not for anything but man I am in love with the idea! Then Again last nite just plain ol sucked wheelin' the duallie 'round the mall. Rainy , windy tight parking lot and morons just trying to become one with my truck. That's when I got to thinkin about it. Bombed up dakota Hmmmmmmmm This Thread gave me the glimmer of hope. And after looking at the underhood layout of an 05 last nite it could happen even with the current body style so I is a wonderin'

I'd have to hold out for the Jeep Rescue. Has all the Dodge CTD p/u underpinnings with a utilitarian layout. The Rescue has a chance to come out first. There's no new technology involved unlike the new generation V engines. Click here for example of the Rescue.

I'd have to side with the Rescue for its proposed proven Ram driveline, but I am betting if DC put a Durango out with the diesel dakota idea, it would be significantly lower in price, not mention much more nimple for in town use. There needs to be a urban SUV platform too, the Rescue seems a little overkill for mall shopping. Maybe DC will get the idea if the Liberty hits the streets and is backordered with the diesel option.

Concept cars are worse than window shopping with the wife for me. At least we have a choice to buy it or not when window shopping. Sad thing is, the Rescue would probably dominate the market if priced right and equipped with the choice of a manual/auto trans.

Oh it's proven allright ... . and what do you think it'l cost too 60 grand or so? Soccer mom's in a rig with torque ... just what the world needs. Don't get me wrong the thing is awesome but ..... The Dakota Diesel IS coming . . at some point

Like I said, cost wise, I would probably pick a diesel Durango over a Rescue for in town use. I have no use for a Dakota pickup, diesel or other wise. I don't consider the dakota's much of a benefit to me, My Ram serves any need I have for a pickup. I don't care for mini or mid size trucks, too light for the heavy loads I haul often.

Considering the cost of most vehicles in the diesel category (Hummer, Excursion, Suburban) I bet the Rescue will be based at $40,000 or better. Price doesn't concern the market they will be targeting with it though.

Both the Hummer H1, Excursion and Suburban are too cumbersome for daily parking etc. The Rescue looks like a shorter wheebase than any of these and has a much better turning radius I am sure. For Rural America, I see alot for the Rescue platform, which is where we live.

Soccer mom's NEED nothing more than a four door car or wagon, no matter what you do, they will WANT the biggest most rediculous thing that they can get to schlup a boat load of kids around in. Its the arrogance of suburbia that's to blame, not the SUV's they adopted from the Utility industry they were designed for such as road crews, logging, and the like. Give the Soccer mom's all the torque they want, Darwinism will sort it out for them easier.

Jeep Rescue

Pelminary measurements as built

80-inch wide chassis with 123-inch wheelbase

Hummer h1

Wheelbase 130. 0-inches Chassis width 86. 5

Hummer H2

Wheelbase 123. 0-inches Chassis Width 81. 2

So Yeah it's a teeny bit smaller true.

Anyhow I for one do NOT haul heavy stuff anymore nor tow heavy either as my job now is different. A smaller truck would be choice for me had i the need for something new. ... shayeah like that'l happen

That thing is grossly out of proportion, The bumper belongs on a Freightliner, it might just be the angle of the shot but I don't like the massive size of it compared to the inset cab appearance. If that's what DC has in store for their dakota's and durango's, I pass on those mutt's no matter what they have under the hood. BLECK!!!!

Call Banks engineering. They have one sitting at their facility in CA. They towed their support trailer with it when they used the same truck to set the speed record in Bonneville for itws class. ( I don't think it really has a class though). The price might be a little higher than production Dakota's, I heard they spent $30,000 on the engine alone.
