swap another generation block for it???? I mean if you have a 24 valve can you put say a 1sr or 3rd gen block into her?????

No... the 3rd gen blocks use a different injection pump mount, gear etc. I heard they don't work. The first gen blocks from 97 up can work, but some 1st gen blocks aren't drilled for the cam sensor... I bought one from a 90 ctd 12v & tried to use it when my block cracked & found out it wouldn't work because of the cam sensor. I heard that the 97 up blocks were drilled for it, but some weren't.
 
Hammersly did your block crack also. I plan to call the guy at cummins to see about covering mine under warranty, I'm welling to do all the labor just want them to provide parts. If that does not work than I will be looking for a block or long block. Cummins724 and host of others have provided me with some info from my last post the one you posted on. If I come up with a some additional info I will pass it on to you. One guy on my post said he has a couple blocks, I will be contacting him also, I think it was farmboy or something like that.
