DON"T READ THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Complaining to the moderators is asking to be babysat IMO, unless there is material in the thread that is not suitable for a family website I see no reason to lock them. The war will continue within days in another thread, anyone want to bet on that? I have read quite a few of the oil threads, yes there is a lot of useless banter about nothing. Since when did progress (and who determines what is progress?) need to be present for a thread to continue?

Allowing the threads to continue will keep them in the same spot and afford the people opposed to them the courtesy of knowing at a glance that the thread is one they don't want to read. It will also keep the battlezone localized, minimizing the offshoots into other threads.

The way I see it either let it pass or boot the major players in the oil wars. Do we really want to see what will happen if people start getting booted from the board over oil arguements?

My honest opinions.

I could not agree more. Censopship has no place on this discussion forum unless it gets personal, or profane.

I, for example do not have an automatic transmission. I therefore tend to skip over or ignore threads dealing with auto trannies. This does not mean they are not informative or that they should not exist.

Engine oil threads are no different. All of us use engine oil but do not necessarily desire to participate in debates over oil. The bottom line is; If you visit a thread and don't like what you see, do not visit that thread again.

The TDR is a wonderful resource filled with real people sharing real-world experiences with their trucks. Censorship of threads some find meaningless or offensive will destroy its very reason for being.

Thumbs down on Censorship, (family viewing of course) and agree 100% if you don't like the title, DON"T READ IT!!

But I know of no thread that was shut down because of it being about oil??

Gene

I agree

That's the beauty of this website, if you don't like the thread, don't click on it. A person could spend quite a few hours on this site each day(talking from experience)reading everything that's on here. If I see a thread that doesn't interest me, I don't bother to check it out. Censorship isn't required if the subject matter falls under the website guidelines.

What? Where? Oh ya, we're on oil again. Guess I had better wake up and start :-{}

Then get all #@$%! when someone thinks differently than I do.

I am with Steve. This needless bickering needs to end. We can state our opinions, but leave the emotion out of it. He just closed down another oil thread because of this #@$%! :-{} #@$%! stuff.

Gene, the oil is only the subject being argued, it is not why the thread was closed. You and Don M , and several others, argueing about oil is why it was closed. Evidently some people on the site feel that you guys should not be ALLOWED to continue your urination confrontation, it offends them that you guys argue for weeks on end. I think you should be able to continue as long as you do not get profane, or call each other names, etc. Basically keep it above a 5th grade level and clean and it should not be a problem IMO.

I have argued with you personally about several subjects in the past and if we choose to do so in the future we should be able to, right? THAT is what I am getting at.

I like the oil threads, as an amsoil user I want all the info I can get pro or con. And if people want to argue, its sometimes pretty entertaining.

Dennis

I wasn't arguing about oil. I was arguing against the obvious personal vendetta that Don M had against what I, my customers, and friends, have found to be an excellent product. I HONESTLY do not care what oil people use! I call the facts as I see them, from experience, and others are welcome to form their own opinions.

The only bright part of the whole thing is there are clues here and there that the majority were not swayed by his spurious and post-count intensive arguments.

There are a few that don't see it like that, though. They think he was absolutely correct in his viewpoint, his methods, and his mission. You are welcome to think that. You don't need to try to convince me to think otherwise.

No matter what the product was, I would have done the same thing that I just did, if I was selling that product or using it.

The problem was NOT oil..... but one person's obsession in hurling and twisting as many words at it as he could.

Briar, I read your posts and you were doing as you say. I support your right to do that as well as Don M having the right to say what he wants without threads being closed because someone else does not like what they read in those threads. It is the people complaining about to the moderators about those threads that bothers me. It is the arguing in general that is a problem for some people, I guess they have a ouija mouse that picks the threads for them rather than choosing content of interest to them:rolleyes:

Can't we all just get along

I think we all are forgetting something important here. We all own the same makes of trucks with our super Cummins engines.

Don, Gene, and all of us have our own opinions on many things oil is just the most resent topic of discussion. It take two (or more) to tango and I think at times we feed off of each other and it keeps esclating(sp) until feelings are involved and then where are we??? Maybe some boxing glove would help this???

I am an AmsOil user(dealer) through and through. Don is my bud. He doesn't trust AmsOil and I don't like the API rating system and have great experience with AmsOil. We have had private talks with each other and neither of us are going to change the others mind . so we agree to disagree .

You know it was a whole lot funner when it was the 12 valvers against the 24 valves, feelings didn't get into it just some good jabs here and there.

Let's get back to helping each other and having some fun!!!!!!!!!

Briar is right, we stick up for products/vendors we believe in, and like their products, selling them or not.

If I posted my bad vendor or product experiences 50% of what Don did, I would have been tar and feathered.

I have chosen to praise the good companies. (Unless I get really BENT. )

And we are told we can't do that by a few rather vocal members.

For some reason, when we say Amsoil works for us, we got bashed, and were told to "prove" it worked for us.

Does anyone have to prove Pier's 370 injectors add more fuel?

Does anyone ask me to prove Mitchell's clutch hooks?

Those battles had NOTHING to do with oil, I hope some of you finally see that.

But you have to READ, not skim over it.

Lsmith said,

" It is the arguing in general that is a problem for some people"

(No it's not... ..... LOL! Get it?)

You are correct.

Watch for the double standard about to be entered below.

Howard,

You know I love ya man, but I think those threads got out of hand. They did get personal at times, but more than that - they were just the same thing over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over... . well, you get my point. The horse was beaten to death and pulverized beyond recognition. I found them entertaining for awhile, but then I think they were getting divisive and ugly.

We try to tell others how much fun the TDR is and try to recruit new members - and then they come on and see stuff like that. I think it gives us all a bad name.

Now, I'm not for censorship, and I agree that nobody has to read anything. But, I think it's a shame when we can't agree to disagree. I think with these oil threads, there were definitely attempts made to pick a fight and keep it going. It seemed like good guys were starting to really have a potential to become enemies, and that's not a good thing in a club like this.

Some people just don't know when to stop, so in those rare cases, I think maybe they needed to be stopped by someone else. I do think that should be a last resort, though.

No hard fellings, just my opinion.

Dave

Maybe everyone should stop using lubricating oil!

That would put an end to things once and for all?

Wait a minute, Castrol did that in one of their ads for engine oil.

Oh No, Castrol, they make that SYNTHETIC oil required in the manual grind, oops gear, boxes.

Oh no, Synthetic oil, Amsoil is a synthetic oil. We're back on that topic again!

My 2 reale

The people that complained reminds me of the ones that move next to an airport, then complain about the noise. :{ Life is too short to let other peoples opinions get you wrapped around the axle. If what is being said bothers you, then pick something else to read... . like a transmission or sticker post :D

That's one more product that maybe Amsoil should make!:-laf And in different flavors. Preferably 5w-30, or lighter. :D

Oh oh NO ! Are we going to start another thread... "Do Synthetics Dissolve Polyprophylactics? " :D or this one... . "Is It Safe To Use If It Doesn't Have The Doc Johnson Seal of Approval On The Bottle?" :-laf

IMHO these are exactly the kinds of threads that should not be posted. There is no information or discussion in this thread. All that is accomplished here is to keep the amsoil thread at the top of the list and stir the pot a little more.
