Diesel Sports Car!

All-time favorite truck appearance-wise?

The best way to kill time while waiting at the dealer is to go out and kick tires on a Cummins GT (girlie truck) and say things like "no I don't want to hear it" and "GOOD GAWD man they ruined the interior" and look up and pause in reverent appreciation every time a mufflerless Cummins MT rolls by.

Well, do what you want, but that's what _I_ do.

:D

And if you bought your Cummins used, ask the service folks for the "ALL VEHICLE OPTIONS" list as well as the 24-month service history for your truck. It's in the DC computer-- just give 'em a VIN.

Wade... a bunch of us never seen the dealer since we drove off and take much better care of our rigs than the "book" asks for... and would'n trust the POS stealer service to be done even if we did go in for it

When I first got my truck I did not believe this, but after having my truck serviced at what I thought was a "real good" dealership I have changed my mind. They do everything half ass and if your lucky they get it close. Some of it is just plain ignorance but a lot of it is just a lack of pride in their work. I have pride in my truck and I now do all the work I can. Wade take willyslovers advise and don't go back there unless it is warranty work and then check their work. :(

Spec list is cool

Wade , Thanks again for the PM return. I went to the dealer and got the list; You were right ,this thing is three pages long.

By the way I agree about most, if not all, dealers not having people who care about or have product knowledge in there job. This makes the third time that I have gone to the dealer since I ordered my truck; The other two times were for - touch up paint and parts for the truck. I am scared to death that I will have a warranty problem and have to take it in for repair. If the rest of Ya'll have found a " good " dealer that is knowledgeable in the parts and service departments be VERY thankful !!!!!Thomas

ALL the above comments were EXACTLY why I wasn't a BIT concerned about modding my truck and voiding the "warranty" - I didn't figure it was worth squat in the FIRST place!

Never looked back, no regrets - *I* am my OWN warranty station!:p ;) :D

Wait a dang minute

I said "if" you find yourself at DC. I hate dealers as much as any red-blooded can-turn-his-own-wrench kinda guy. I was there for a TSB ECM reflash. Not a lot of options there.

Mom was getting the dealer to service her truck and I stepped in and said "No, I'll do that. "

I would never buy a dealer new truck because of the financial aspects of it (avg 60% loss of value in 4 years). I would never have a dealer (or ANYbody) do work on my truck that I can do. Paint/body is all I don't do.

I was just 'splainin how to aggravate and milk DC for info.

Now, have we got that straight? :p :p ;)

Wade that is good to hear, thought you might of gone to the darkside. :-laf

What Willyslover said :D

2. 5 years and NO dealer visits. Would rather have all teeth and toenails pulled with no painkiller than endure the joke most dealers try to pawn off as "customer service" and "competent service"

I do smile politely while telling the service manager how I feel if they mistakenly ask when I show up to buy parts :p

In 2. 5 yrs I have had a clock spring replaced under warrenty and all was well, and then I lost a L/P, was 80 miles away and the dealer said drive it in and we will replace it, WHAT THE HECK I said, anywho I got a new L/P from Cummins and did it myself and then sent a letter to my stealer that we are done and I am currently looking for a new dealer to handle these issues, now my wife wants a Cummins Sport/auto... ... ... . cool I HAVE A SEMI, my money will be spent at a dealer not a stealer... ... ... ... ... . IN MY AREA it is simply dealer greed. Some of the good mechanics at dealers use to make 65k-80k per year. The guys I am referring to have been on the job 18+ years. These dealers started cutting back on wages, but not on shop rates. They just flat want a bigger piece of the pie.

Over the last two years my local dealer has lost 3 of these 18+ year mechanics. They have moved out of dealers and are happy with their decisions.

I believe some of these dealers could raise the shop rates to $150 per hour and not pass it along to the guys in the back. It is as if they just do not get it, or maybe just do not care.
