Just decided to change mine. Got one from Geno's about 2 months ago, finally got around to it.

More annoying than hard, kind of nice spring loaded and all.
The old one was VERY cracked, I would say I was none too soon on that one.
Are the Daycos a good belt?
Also popped a fuel filter in too. Not bad, you just have to have a plan of attack.

I'm due for an Anti-freeze flush soon, I'll be hittin the search feature for that one.

What is the life on all the little heater hoses?

Dayco is the best in the belt and hose field. I changed my belt at around 95,000 and looked pretty cracked and worn. Its a good idea to save the old one for a spare. Once you loose a belt you lose water pump, alternator, power stearing & air cond. I did loose all those things in a chev s-10 Lets just say I'm glad I was driving it. Stearing was pretty stiff on the first curve. It was ma's vehicle and theres no way she would have been able to turn that wheel.

news flash: mgm you are out of the loop, I heard from a good source that ams will be selling synthetic belts in less than a month. Man I will be on that

When you get ready to change the antifreeze dont use the plastic petcock
on the radiator to drain it. Mine started leaking and had to be replaced. The dealer told me to just remove the lower hose and let it all splash out.

Brandon,
I'm ahead of you and Amsoil. I used the Series 2000 Racing grease on the new belt, then coated it with the HD Metal Protector, so it won't wear out.
Dollar wise there, eh?

Dayco makes great belts. The only thing is that the Goodyear Gatorback belts supposedly do not "squeak" when the truck is shut down. I don't know for sure though. Gene what did you pay for the Dayco? The Goodyear is about $26 at Carparts.com. Now that were talking about it I might as well replace mine too at 89,000.

As far as Antifreeze. The search will produce lots of reading material for you. I prefer to use the John Deere Cool-Guard. You can check it out here: http://www.johndeere.com/deerecom/_John+Deere+Parts/Learn+About+John+Deere+Parts/Coolants/default.htm. I would imagine the Fleetguard is similar.

IMO buy it premixed. Yes it is a little more costly, but you don't have to be concerned with the quality of water you are putting in it. I still buy premixed even though I have a reverse osmosis water treatment unit here at the house.
