Been watching this one on eBay, very nice but the price keeps going up and up. Very nice truck though, especially if it's truly only 61k miles. It was at $9,500 and still hadn't met the reserve, wonder what they're thinking to get.

1993 Dodge Ram

Depends on what it is worth to you.

I have bought a few vehicles using E-Bay and the trouble is that you don't know who you are bidding against so you have to set a dollar value of your own and don't exceed it.

You can be bidding against the dealers kid for all you know or a pack of bored college kids.

The odds are 50% or higher that a winning bid on that truck will be bogus and the dealer will wind up relisting it.

If you really want it call them directly right now and see what they will take for it, you might be surprised.

$9500. 00 does seem a tad pricey to me...

JMHO.

I've never bought a vehicle off eBay but I have a feeling you're spot-on Mike. A couple of the trucks i've watched that "sold" were back on a week later. Yeah I do think it's quite high for what you're getting, although it's whatever somebody will pay for it.

Peeling paint and/or clearcoat is killing the top dollar figure for me.

Nice truck for sure, but I would want it professionally painted for that money.

Mike. :)

Yeah the paint is a big thing. The small stuff adds up too; fluids, seals, leaks etc. Only 61k miles in almost 20 years is a lot of time sitting. These dang things can add up FAST!:D I'd say $8500 would be top dollar for where i'm at.

... ... I'm guessing you bought it... . :D Someone did, it looks like..... nice truck. I'd agree on the price being a little high for me. But look at what you'd have!!! You can't but a newer one as good, and certainly not for that money!! My concern would be with the sitting. Was it outside? In a barn? Started and driven cold, not allowed to warm up? That's a lot of condensate inside the engine, and I've seen several camshafts destroyed from rust forming from condensate..... JMO... . hope you got it!!

Agreed, I would pay $8500. 00 for it and still be able to look at myself in the mirror, take a shot at it... ... ;)

Oh Wow, it is gone. .

Did you get it, jclark???

Durn... . wonder if it was a TDR member? :-laf

Well, my trucks are glad to have some competition for the beatings. They all take turns, some longer than others. Some are serious, and only break if you take them to play. I've never had my '97 break, unless I was playing around. I blew the headgasket jacking with a new DuraMax back in '05, and in '08 I broke the front outer stub shaft climbing a hill just to show off... ... of course, now it's o-ringed and has 35 spline 1. 635 axle shafts and dynatrac hubs..... Another 60k miles and nothing's broken since..... and it's only been used to work; no play. And the old '96 was just a hoss. Lots of play, lots of work, it didn't care. It just liked to go... . the '93 just likes to go, too. I don't play with it much, as it's not as much fun... . and I'm always picking crap up after loosing it off the flatbed... . that get's old. All I can say, you're not working her hard enough, or she'd enjoy the company!!!

Hahaha that's probably it. I'm going to take her out this weekend and beat the crap out of her. Still trying to break in these new leaf springs. Need to find some double train crossings like Eric's got:-laf

See, now to me that ain't squat. Totally meaningless in MY book. Recreationally or in the use I would give it, that would not be a factor unless the engine was toitally destroyed (then it would not run period).

Since I come from the land of rust, the underbody, etc is most important. Of course the sitting outside might have been an issue if it rusts the underbody.

But I can get an engine anywhere or they can be rebuilt and they are cake to swap.

But that's my take. Everybody has a different approach and a different philosophy about what is important.

Well, yes, but if you're gonna pay top dollar for it, I think it needs to be in good mechanical shape. I like a good running truck, too, and that's the most important to me. I don't like to walk unless I choose to... . :D I was just saying it all factors in to the overall price. If they tell me it sat outside all the time, and they started it for 3 minutes to charge the batteries once a month, and didn't move it, that's a concern, to me. And at $8500 dollars, the body would have to completely cancer free!! I've got better trucks parted out around here!! Cancer is a big no-no!! I like to hear my engine roar, not look at it through the floorboard!!!:-laf

Absolute WORST vehicle I have ever bought was my Grandad's 95 Ford. 26,000 mile in 2007

Never buy a low mileage unit. If you want clean i/e no rust, get one from the deep South with NORMAL amount of miles.

Stuff needs replaced cuz it is shot. Bearings are dry and noisey. Stuff that would not require replacement untill 160,000+ is shot.

I'm literally rebuilding the Ford. It now has 56,000 and it is all I can do to keep it on the road.

That's the way I look at it. You see some of these guys online advertising our trucks that are 15-20 years with REALLY low miles. Now assuming the mileage is accurate, i'd be really leery of a truck like that with less than 100k. I think we're wired to think less miles the better regardless.
