1. CREW CAB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2. Oh BTW I would like a Crew cab.
3. An option of a longer frame on the cab & chassis so I don't have to get the frame stretched every time I buy one. (F-650 and750's allow you to chose one of about 10 wheelbases)
4. Stay the heck away from Detroit or Mercedes Benz or whatever kind of hare brained motor they are thinking of putting in there, and stay with the Cummins (although the C8. 3 isn't a bad idea)
5. I would like to see a higher GCWR.
6. How about releasing the models that they already make and sell outside the US here? Is that to much to ask? DC already makes a Dodge crew cab, 4500 and 5500 models, and a Power Wagon. Why the heck won't they sell them here?
7. Bucket seats. The 40/20/40 is nice, but they ought to offer bucket seats as an option, anyway. I'd buy it.
8. More power stock than Ford or Chevy. (hehehe)
9. Better transmission's. The six speed is good, but why not a 7? Like a Fuller or a Dana Spicer? Or an Allison auto?
10. 3. 73 gears. It's too big of a difference from 4. 10's to 3. 54's

That's my TOP TEN List.

#1--LEAF SPRINGS ON THE FRONT OF ALL 4-WHEEL DRIVES WOULD ELIMINATE ALOT OF FRONT END PROBLEMS,,TILT FRONT END WOULD BE GREAT!!!!

Brian,

I am sure that I could get the Cummins ECM to work. It supports all of the features on the Ram, plus a few others. All we'd have to do is upload a few parameters into it so it can "talk" to the PCM. Not really that hard. BOMBing the connectors would be easy.

As to some changes I would make to the Ram...

  • Get rid of the crappy cup holders on the manual transmission trucks
  • Gear splitter option from the factory
  • 7-speed Spicer transmission
  • 6-speed Allison auto
  • Dana 135 rear axle option
  • 3. 08, 3. 42, 3. 54, 3. 73, 3. 92, 4. 10, 4. 30, 4. 56, and 4. 88 axle ratio options, with LSD available on all of them
  • Rear brake option... Disc or drum
  • Full tilt hood for easy access
  • Higher GCWR options
  • Available Ram 4500 and Ram 5500, with GVW of up to 26,000 lbs, with a high GCWR too
  • Air ride suspension
  • Air ride seats
  • TRUE Jake brake from the factory
  • Crew cab with optional rear seat delete
  • Optional larger fuel tanks, up to 75 gallons
  • Electrochromatic (auto dimming) side mirrors
  • Heated & power towing mirrors

I'm sure I'll come up with more... #ad

In addition to what has already been mentioned, I'd like to see heavy duty tow hooks, front and rear. I'd also like to see a 1 ton with single rear wheels.

How about a foward tilting hood! Like the big boys, would make service much easier.

98 Properly Valved 4x4 SWB QC ISB A/T Metallic Red w/ tan cloth interior, DC nerf bars, DC two piece mud-flaps, 275 h. p. injectors, Monroe Gas Magnums, Armor Tuff spray in bed liner, Goodyear Wrangler ATS 285/75r/16, BD Heavy Duty Valve body. Walker 21468 thru flow muffler.

1. A fueling neck located where spillage doesn't wind up on the paint. (flip-up rear tail-light ala '57 cheby-meby???)
2. Empty gauge pod pre-wired for your own gauges.
3. Docking port for Palm Pilot with plug-in to run systems diagnostics/performance.
4. Windows that would roll down when the key is in the ACC position.
5. A functioning "ring" light around the ignition switch.
6. Full-floating rear/front axles w/ manual hubs.
7. A/C ducts that run to the rear seat passengers in the quad-cabs.
8. Better mount for front license plate.
9. Remote oil-filter.
10. Ram-Air & hood scoop #ad

11. Move the accelerator pedal 1" to the right.
12. Better lid/hinge setup on Jockey-box.
13. Dedicated overhead light(s) for rear seat passengers in quad cab.
14. Better crankcase "vapor bottle" design.
15. On/Off switch for ABS.
16. Dead pedal.
17. Grease Zerks on all "joints".
18. A new grill insert design... tired of honeycomb.
19. A carbon-fiber front bumper that will really absorb shocks and not deform as easily as our current tin-foil units. That would bring a new dimension to "Rammin" #ad

20. Pamela Anderson in... . nix that, my wife just walked in #ad

Lessee... .

1) Guages for boost and EGT
2) Tach and Speedo increments that don't require math everytime I look at em because the lines are in the wrong places.
3) Ability to stage power in the stock ECM
4) Cummins ECM (which I think is coming?)
5) rear swaybar available without extra leaves.
6) receiver for the hitch package (dammit, I spent 32k and you can't give me a $15 hitch and save me the time finding one?)
7) Electric sliding rear window, which would increase security and ease of operation in the QC.
8) stronger AT
9) at least an anti spin diff up front.

Realistically I am pretty pleased with my truck. I think some of the things we ask for are unrealistic though... remember, every option adds a cost to the manufacturing process. But some are too low cost to do without, and thats where the truck could be better.

How about just every option that has ever been offered on any vehicle ever made? These rams could get nice but expensive too #ad
I like the transmission ideas, the crew cad idea, and the tilt hood! I'd also like to see a new truck actually come with some real rims and tires too---like some 33x12. 50's on some really cool lookin chromies! It really ticks me off that you get a truck and you have to go out and buy these things just to even start to make it look half decent. #ad

Some of these are duplicates from above, but I agree. I'll try not to get carried away...

- Genuine Cummins ECM (and ALL the toys that come with that)
- 4 real doors
- 4 real captains chairs w/ 2 real consoles
- Closer ratio gears and more of them. Either over/under or just 8-10 gears and don't stop at . 79 for high. Give me about a . 6 or . 5 (don't worry Chrysler, I promise I won't use the wrong gear for my current speed/load).
- Don't make me choose between good tow mirrors or electric/heated mirrors. Offer both in the SAME mirror.
- Available on-board hydraulics.
- Available on-board compressed air.
- Available on-board margaritas -- Wait, I'm getting carried away here.
- True locking hubs (auto or manual, don't care as long as they really unlock the BOTH hubs from the axle)
- Available locking differentials (both).
- Independent high/low range and 2/4 wheel drive (let me decide when to engage the front drive shaft).
- FIX THAT D#@$ FRONT END - steering wander, brake pull, return-to-center, brakes that stop, brakes that last, axles that don't leak, bearings that don't leak, diff covers that don't leak, grease zerks that don't leak, etc. , etc. , etc.
- A/C that drains
- Full control over the speedo settings in the computer (not just 3-4 tire/gear combinations).
- A real oil cooler (even Ford got this one right on the 460).
- Stronger U-joints.
- Stronger clutch
- Stronger 5th (10th?) gear.
- An air intake system that really sucks (literally)
- An exhaust system that really blows (again, literally)
- Cup holders I can reach without undoing my seat belt and crawling across the cab. Oh yea, AND that don't jiggle AND that hold something larger than a 6-oz foam cup. (maybe put them in those real consoles).
- Closed crankcase breathing system (no more factory-designed oil drips please).
- And finally, but most importantly. BRING THIS ALL OUT IN THE SAME YEAR MODEL. Please don't add a couple new options each year as you take away a couple more.

That awtta do it.

Rear mounted Optima batteries, bumper mounted recepticle for block heater, well designed, light weight Rambi slayer with hood/fender/brush guard, extra fused connectors for adding goodies, optional 19. 5 wheels/tires.

My wish is simple. A button on the steering wheel to change the computer function so I would not have to reach up to the console.

TNHotShot,

I will print off this thread and write "please design all above suggestions in the next generation Ram, without a price increase" at the top of the letter. I will fold it neatly and mail it to D/C, attention Ram Design Team #ad

I thought this thread would generate some good ideas and a lot of responses, being a subject every single Ram owner has thought about more than once. You guys have come up with some good ones!!!! Air ride seats, full tilt hood, power tailgate lock, decent trannies & axles, good paint, on and on!!!! This thread is a keeper! #ad

Here's another one: Competition Package, with twin turbo, true dual 4" exhaust, more aggressive cam, 300/660 ECM, twin-ram intake, marine injectors, 4,000rpm redline, 15:1 CR for 40-50psi boost, backed up by proper clutch and aforementioned drivetrain options #ad
