Hey Guys, my 07 24 valve 5.9 4X4 6spd stick shift is starting Funky. I have 140K on it. So I put the key in and turn it on, the starter engages and then jumps out for a moment and then re-engages back into the fly wheel. Sounds horrible. Plugged my Smarty in and read the fault codes. Got two of them. P2609 Voltage Drop seen from Intake Air Heater, No Voltage and P2509 Power Down Data Lost Error. Looked at the Volt meter in the dash and nothing. has the original batteries so I had them tested and they were both bad. I changed out both batteries and cables, they had a lot of corrosion and installed a new starter even thinking maybe the solenoid was bad and it still does it. At this point I am not sure what it could be. Any thoughts would be most welcome. thanx.

that was it. thanx for the input Mr. Henderson. this is my second dodge turbo diesel. bought a black 98 brand new short bed 24 valve and that thing was always broke. I grew to hate that truck and Dodge in general. I took a chance and traded it in on this one brand new and it has been a pretty good ride overall. Had it's hiccups but nothing like the last one. that one was always broke. It left me stranded 3 times. this one has always got me home. thanx again for the input.

First thing I do with any piece of equipment is hot wire all the safety switches. I have been stranded a few times due to stupid things like that.

Somehow people managed for years without little electronic devices to safe them from themselves.

So to by pass the safety switch to check that out, you just need to jumper where the switch plugs into, to bridge the gap. Right? Or is it more detailed than that.

Don't automatic trucks have that jumper installed?
You could probably get one from a junk yard real cheap if you didn't want to make one.
