I just thought I'd post this for your guys' information. I put a II sps64 on my truck last year. I'm at 1000ft elevation. The surge was very evident. Anywhere between 20 and 35 lbs of boost it would sit there and surge, not a little either... it was like a train was under my hood. I drove thru it (wot or under 20 lbs), no big deal to me. I had on a k&n filter at the time, similar to an re880. Well, today I finally got my AFE proguard 7 stage 2 kit on. WOW what a difference. The surge is 99% gone, nearly non existant. I could barely hear it surge and my boost gauge showed no fluctuation when I TRIED to make it surge. My gauge would vary at least 3 lbs before. I know Brady said it needed air, but I thought I had it. The difference is unbelievable, to anybody who hasn't heard one surge, they wouldn't even notice it. So if you have a surge problem, get a bigger filter, it will make a difference.
I haven't pulled a trailer yet, but will post the results when I do. I'm amazed at what an air filter/intake can do. I would have bet anything that my k&n flowed just about as much as the afe would... . I guess it's a good thing I didn't bet.
