Hey all --

I've been a member of the TDR for awhile now... even though I owned Ford F250 Turbo 7. 3IDI. Well, now I am the proud owner of a 2004 2500 HO 6 speed.

I freakin' love this rig... I've wanted one ever since my dad bought one back in '96. I bit the bullet and did it and couldn't be happier.

I loved my Ford, but this thing puts it to shame. The torque is amazing!

Just had to share :)

I made that same switch about 3 weeks ago. I had '94 F250 IDI TD for 5 years. It was great truck. I had the ATS exhaust housing, outlet and exhast system on it, turned up the fuel 25% and doubled the boost (all the way to 10 psi). It wasn't a bad truck after those mods, but I didn't want to push it further.

I just got back from my first tow with the Dodge. It held speed on hills better and got better mileage witht he same load. I didn't miss the 190,000 mile Ford interior sqeaks and rattles either :D I don't think I'll miss the glow plug and return line changes that the Ford seemed to need at least once a year either - especially not the glow plug back under the Ford's turbo.

Anyways, from one new guy to another - welcome to the TDR and the fantastic world of glow plugless diesel engines :)

Bombing bug???

Problem is, I live close to Diesel Dynamics :D

. . . injectors, gauges, turbo, air box, high volume lift pump, power box, 4" and 5" exhaust, so many toys. . .

What to do with Sickly's baby brother

I hear you, I won't be missing the glow plug changes. I loved the engine characteristics but it was getting up there in years and I was having to work on it most weekends. Nothing major -- idler pulley, tensioner pulley, fan clutch, glow plugs, thermostat, etc. Nothing major, but it was starting to nickel and dime me.

I'm real happy with this truck so far and can't wait to break it in on a nice long fishing trip! :)

ahhh... the truck of my dreams! :D

I came to a Dodge from a 7. 3 idi and I am glad your first tow went great. You will get even more power the next time usually your first tow the truck is not broken in you get even more power as time goes on.

Don't forget to let that turbo cool ! especially after pulling loads and grades

Good to hear from Ford's exes ;) . Good advice about letting the turbo cool down. I just put egt and boost gauges on mine a while back and was pleased to see how fast the turbo cools down. If you have an exhaust brake, be sure to turn it off during the cool down period, makes a huge difference.

I still think Dodge/Cummins is the best kept secret in the truck industry. Let Frod claim to be the best selling... . remember people actually bought those pet rock thingy's... . one born everyday!!!! I had a 5. 2L gas RAM before this one and it's does not even compare. It pulls the hills in western MD. and western PA with no problem. Pulling an 8000 trailer, the only times I dropped to 60 mph was when it was in OD... . once it dropped to 3rd, I went right back up to 65. I was only limited by the approaching red-line. Kudos to Dodge/Cummins!
