Replaced my left side ball joints today. Read the threads and had a good idea of what I was getting into. Took off the axle nut, loosened the 4 12pt bolts half way and put the puller on the hub. Started out with my 1//2" drive ratchet on the puller, a little turn and the assembly starts coming off:cool: I'm so happy that its going so good, I forget to take the 4 12pt bolts out the rest of the way:eek: I keep turning the puller thinking I'll be done in no time. POP off the hub comes. Well, half of it anyhow. I greased up the bearing good and pressed it back togther. The rest of the job went real well. Started at 8:30 and was done by noon, including a parts run for a upper ball joint (I was just gonna do the lower). Hopefully the bearing is ok, only time will tell.

STUPID HURTS:(

I am a idiot

Seems like I heard Mr. Whitmore make that statement not to long ago:D As one idiot to another idiot welcome;)

Hi, My name is Rick....... and I'm an idiot too!!!

There, now I feel better. I won't tell you how many little projects I've hosed up, the first time was many years ago. I was trying to take apart a Judson (better make that many many many years)supercharger on a VW Bug. I took out the screws and tried to open the case. Well, I thought I took out all the screws. Same story, half of it came apart.

Yup, welcome to the club, here's yer sign. ;)

I feel compeled to tell everyone that I became a "Knighted Idiot" back in 1994. It was a prestigous event, all my buddies present, joyful laughter and drinking... ..... then the ceromony. Changed the oil in my car (1981 Z-28), and with all the pomp and circumstance of a Presidential Inaguration, I fired it up with only the oil in the filter. Could not understand why it was knocking. Suddenly the Knighted Light went on... ... ... It was something I will never forget. And my buddies will not let me. Thankfully there was no video recording of such event... ...

When I was a youngster did my first oil change on my first truck. Oil sure was thick and there wasn't much of it. Truck went over a thousand miles before the transmission seized up from lack of lube.

I don't feel so bad now, a PhD at work did the same thing to his '02 Tundra recently.

I almost guarantee you ran across the thread from my runin with the pulled apart bearing that started with brake discs and ended with axle seals, man that was a bad week... .
