Problems with lack of power

I just made a deal on a 93 W250, auto, clubcab. It is in ill repair but I think I am up to the task. I have not yet taken possesion, but have a list of problems from the current owner. Trans is out (reverse only), transfer case is stuck in 4HI, front end growls when hubs are locked in (but it still works/spins tires). Other than that there is just slight body damage. I have done some 727's and quite a few 47re rebuilds, the trans should not be a problem, just have a few questions on non lockup and what parts to replace to get the power down. I have also done axle rebuild on D44's, so the 60 and 70 should not be too much of a problem, will have someone setup ring and pinon if I go that far. What about the trans case, it is a 205 right? How tough is a rebuild, any idea what the problem is? Looking forward to rebuilding this truck, I have 76 crew cab with a near perfect cab on it, this might be a long rebuild. Will the body lines from the 93 front fenders match up with the 76 doors? I have been doing some searches, and have already answered a few of my questions, just wanted chat with you 1st gen guys. I sold my 91 D250 in June of 99, it was a great truck and I have wanted another since.

my 2cnts

if the 205 did not run without oil ? I would say maybe new seals ! front ,rear bearing < good to go !! 205 xcase is the strongest case out their ! I doth any body has wore one out !!

Thanks

Will know more after I get it. What is the name of the company that sells full rebuild kits for Dodge's (axles)? They were advertising in the TDR a while back but I could not find them?

My front end growls too. I had it apart a while ago and the carrier bearing cups were pitted.

The 93 lines will not match the 76. Fenders will fit but the 93 has bold creases where the 76 does not. I don't know if the 93 grill and radiator support might go on the front of the 76 fenders? Maybe put the front clip, and doors off the 93 on to the 76 and then get some early 80's rear doors and the 93 box for the lines to match up. Hoods will be different, but will interchange, but the cowl/grill piece under the wipers will have to match the hood, ie whatever hood you use, you will need the same cowl.

Good luck, no matter how far you roam, you can always come home!

Thanks

I guess it will stay as a club cab until I can find a 80's 4 door cab. I am going to get it on Sat. and will check back in here after I find out what is shot and what is not. I still have the 2002 (hate to be without a 2nd gen), and am looking at 3rd gen to pull the "West Texas Turbo Diesel" trailer. My business partner has a 94 4x4 dually, 2000 4x4 Q-cab dually, 2001 4x4 SB Q-cab race truck, and 2003 4x4 4dr dually. I guess we have them all covered pretty good.

Got it, for a little while anyway.

I picked up the 93 on Sat. When I got there the engine started right up and sounded perfect. I noticed it was kind of warm and knew the previous owner had started it earlier, but he had told me that it ran rough until it got warmed up. I went ahead and loaded it up. The trans is shot, fluid is black and burned, truck will not move. Body is pretty much shot at as well, lots of thin rusted steel on the lower cab. This truck is not worth rebuilding, but I bought it for the D60 front, NP 205, and the Cummins. When I got it back to Houston it had not run for 6 hours, so I went out and started it, fired right up and idled smooth, when I throttled it up it started missing and smoking (it was dark so I could not see the color), but it had air in the fuel. This became evident when it shuddered and died and fuel started leaking out of the pump. Once again it was dark and sitting on a trailer in front of a friends house so I made no further investigation. Next morning the plan was to go load our new MD 250 dyno and then load the Dodge back up on the rear of the trailer (big trailer but not big enough), had to leave the truck in Houston. Have not decided what to do with it yet, I had an offer on it while in Houston and nearly let it go. I have the 76 and it is in good enough shape to use, but I dont have the time. I am thinking about putting the engine, trans, case, axles etc under a late 80's-early 90's short bed half ton single cab. I have not seen one like this yet and it would be an excellent off road truck for what I need. I have to go to Houston and get some shop equipment, I guess I'll bring "Rusty" back with me. Any suggestions?
