Do away with private land ownership?

Happy Birthday Rammin on!!

MIKE,

I went through the seizure thing with a female boxer years ago. A rescue, she had been abused and had ongoing health problems then the epilepsy. She would have 45 minute seizures that meds would not stop. I went round and round with my vet at the time over putting her down. He did not like to put down animals unnecessarily but that case was rediculous. He finely agreed and I changed vet's after that.

When I lived where burying in the yard was not an option, I used to take the ashes and scatter them (which is not always legal) in the wind at a favorite hiking spot.

In whose hand is the soul of every living thing

They have more soul than a lot of people I know. My Jack Russell has shown me a lot. If they could only talk. Note that I said talk. They definitely communicate.

Yep. I know how it hurts.

QRTRHRS,

Sorry to hear about your loss. I think every pet owner on here can empathize with you. I saw a sign yesterday outside a Vet Clinic that said, "Pets are God's way of showing unconditional love. " How true.

Sorry to hear QRTRHRS. I just had to put my male Saint, Baxter down, last Sunday. 7 days later and I still miss him sorely. Hang in there brother, it will get easier.

So close to my heart...

I feel for you, man. It's tough.

I lost my female Rottweiler Desi in 2000. The vet did surgery to address her oversized spleen, and found cancer not only there, but all over her liver. I could not bear to let her go, so took her home and tried like hell to save her for about 6 weeks. I loved her so much. Just looked at her one day and knew it was over, just after her 8th birthday. The hardest part is going in with them, and holding them; as hard as it was (and still is to think about), she deserved nothing less.

I still had two of her littermates, Dytre and Dasko, until last May when Dytre was diagnosed with bone cancer and went downhill really fast. He was actually my boyfriend's dog and we took him in to be put down 2 days before my boyfriend's birthday. A few days later Dasko started limping badly. I took him in knowing he wouldn't come home, so he died on the Xray table (broken leg due to bone cancer) 2 days after my birthday... :(

I still keep the ashes from all of them (can't part with my only "kids").

I have my 1/2 Rott 'Cuda (aka The Freak, Ass-Clown) who embodies humor. :) I will never be without a Rott (or part), but hope the next one goes naturally...

Scott, sorry to hear that you are going through this too. The wife and I are slowly adjusting to the big change around the house as are the other two dogs. We have been rehashing her time with us, the good parts and bad. However unpleasent, it does help.
