Has anyone heard the magna flow system?? does it sond good?

Im looking for a good stainless exhaust system ( for longevity) but dont want to pay too much. I see BD's got em so does BANKS any opinions????? Want big sound not wooried too much about noise, it already sounds better than a power stoke

Diesel exhaust is not as corrosive as that from a gasoloine engine. Aluminized pipe lasts almost forever in a diesel.

Why waste the money?

I have the Magnaflow on my truck and I like alot! Some drone at 2k but only when you are into the GO pedle. It fit well and the 5" tip looks sharp. I would like to see them move the muffler up to cut some of the drone or make a flow-thru resonator.

They are in the $850+ range. I bought mine in the TDR classifieds new for $400 + shipping.

I second the opinion on the galv longevity. My VW diesel went 19 years on the origional system and was good when I sold it.

You would LOVE the sound of the Magnaflow!Oo. Oo.

Water vapor is one of the main byproducts of gasoline combustion, which is why exhaust systems in gassers rust apart. For all practical purposes there's no water vapor in diesel exhaust.

Just as Mark said, paying extra for a stainless exhaust system is nothing more than flushing money down the toilet.

I just had Rip Rook build an awesome aluminized 5inch system for my truck. No drone and it sounds friggin sweet, I couldnt be happier. He also has an aluminized 4inch system that people seem to be really happy with. If you insist on stainless he carries the Magnaflow system

I really Like my ALUMINIZED 5" . . turbo to tail, of course;):D

No drone as the lingering clouds of soot obscure the noon-day sun:-laf:-laf

I have the Banks 4" system. Some have reported a slight drone at around 2200 rpm. I don't have is there, more like 2600 rpm. In normal cruise, no problem. It's noticeable when shifting from OD to 3rd (actually sounds good then). Now that it's $400 less than when I bought mine, I wouldn't hesitate at all. Still looks like new after over 2 years.

Just an FYI,

If anyone is considering a Flowmaster, stay far away... .

I just recently installed a 3 chamber Delta Flow flowmaster, and it took about 4-5 psi boost away, hurt mileage, and performance.

NOT HAPPY!!

I highly recommend Rip Rook's system

Rip Rook installed his 4" aluminized system on my truck. I went with the Allied muffler and 5" stainless Magnaflow tip. It is quite easily my favorite BOMB to date :)

If you are anywhere close to the Portland, Oregon area, I highly recommend letting Rip install the system. For starters, his workmanship is top shelf. He welds all the seams (read NO CLAMPS) and then paints all the welds. His forward placement of the muffler also eliminates any drone. Secondly, he'll keep you in stitches because he's one funny guy!

This system turns heads everywhere I go :D

Mufflers?

Side Exit Tips?

Turn Downs?

What are yall talkin' about?? These things don't belong on a Diesel :D

Mufflerless Stacks. :D

But I do like alot of noise, and don't mind the drone for two reasons,,

1. It's not there above 75MPH

2. I have a stereo loud enough to keep the ricers away.

I'm with Motorhead ! The Magnaflow system is GREAT ! I was extremely pleased with the quality as well as the fit and finish of the Magnaflow. Sure it's pricey, but who would want to put a "cheap" exhaust system on a $36K truck ? ? ? With the Magnaflow, you get what you pay for and MORE. If you'd like a pic, check out the pics in my gallery.

Merrick,

Your stacks probably increase the coefficient of drag. I think it is hurting you top speed too. Also, you can't smoke out those pesky mosquito sounding rice burners. ;-)

With Injectors bigger than SuperMentals, and an 18cm housing on an HX-40,,, They CAN be smoked OUT :D

The drag and top speed thing is true though. Maybe it hurts my 1/4 mile times ??
