Just an update...



I just got off the phone with Amsoil, I spoke with a woman

named Lindsey (sp?) in their Internet Orders support group. She

found my internet order dated January 15th, and explained that

on that day, they were training a bunch of new folks on

processing internet orders, and several got lost in the shuffle. She

also said they had been flooded today with calls from other

customers like me, asking about their orders placed on or close to

Jan. 15th. She assured me she would personally handle my

order, and that I would receive it in full by the end of this week



Obviously, this specific instance doesn't explain slowness in the

distant past, but I figured I'd post this just so anyone else in the

same situation with a recent order would know what is going on.

Problem I see with any oddball oil be it synthetic or dino is that you have to haul it around with you in case you need to top up or change oil on a long trip.

I'd much rather have Wal-Mart store my Delo for me.

You should be able to get Delvac 1 at a local parts house or a "Farm and Fleet" type store. Call your local Mobil distributor and see where it is stocked, or you can just buy it from them. Having oil in your engine that is not stocked in 99% of stores is not an enviable position IMO.

I made a few calls to Amsoil yesterday. The service in this case is inexcusable. They found the original order placed on 1/5 that had not shipped as of 1/27.



However, the rep I talked to was very helpful and would have rushed the order out that same day if the customer (Ken) still wanted it. Like sledpuller said, dealers taking personal care of their customers will eliminate problems.



I have started carrying a gallon jug with me after I lost 3 quarts out the breather tube offroad 500 miles from home on a weekend. As big as our trucks are, it's easy to stash behind the seat or in a toolbox. Most of us already carry tools, fuel filters, etc anyway.

I've been happy with Rotella 15/w40. Change it every 5,000 miles. Truck has over 205,000 miles and I still don't need to add oil between changes. AND its available everywhere - Walmart, truck stops, parts houses.

They didn't offer that to me. They seemed to care less that I was canceling the order and my "preferred customer" membership. It sure made me feel like they did't want my business. The bottom line is that Amsoil does not take internet ordering seriously. There shouldn't be anything for anyone to screw up. Input order into computer, forward to shipping, ship product.

I use Premium Blue extreme full synthetic. It has a nice blue Cummins logo on the bottle and is endorsed by them for extended drains and it meets CI-4. It was tested in their engines and they like it. I just go buy it. I do not need a dealer. Just go buy some.

Is this a Cummins product? If so, is it only sold at the Cummins store? Anywhere else?

I don't want to start or re-start the old oil war, but is Rotella or Delo API certified? It's not a requirement for me, just wondering.

Both are certified. Pretty hard to beat Delo for quality and availability.

Use what your happy with...

Premium Blue 2000 is a good oil, but not a full synthetic (synthetic blend). Not a great oil for cold weather. I think it is being fased out with Premium Blue Extreme 5W40.



I run synthetics for the cold weather up here now. When I drove more miles per year, it got old changing oil every three weeks (6K drains). I went to extrended drains then when running alot harder then now and found how good oil is and how clean our trucks run. Not that I drive alot less, I have peace of mind that 20 or 25K on the same oil will not hurt a thing (no bypass here!). I had a change to see the top end and cylinders after 220K miles on this recipe. It seems to work.



If ... ... . I was driving less then 25K per year and IF... . I lived and drove my truck in temps above 32, I would run Delo. Maybe a group III (PB Extreme or Rotella 5W) for the MPG benifit.



Temps below zero or high miles per year I would run synthetics.



No matter what I used, it would stay in for 6K mimimum.

It's starting to look like Delo in my truck. I need to simplify my life. For you Amsoil dealers out there that offered to help, I still plan to use 75W140 in the rear diff, so I may contact you when I need to change it (about 8000 miles from now).



I'm going to ask about the stuff for the NV5600 then too,... the real stuff that's approved by DC.

klenger, I just bought the Mobil delvac 1 you asked about mail order from avlube.com for $81. 39 for a case of 4 one gallon. E-mail Justin@avlubeinc. and give him you zip code and he will quote you. I use this for my VW Jetta TDI. They are in the north east, the price I mentioned was just for the product, you can't get out of shipping costs. They are very professioal and automatically send you a ups tracking number. ED

I've used Texaco Oil in ALL my vehicles for the last 20 years.



I usually get 150K to 200K out of gas engines without oil consumption.



When I bought my Turbo I started it on Texaco URSA 15w40.



It has 78200 miles and is going strong, no problems.



I buy from the local distributor here in Nashville, 6 gals at a time.



Cost is about $5. 50 per gallon that way.

As I posted earlier in this thread, I called Amsoil on Monday, the lady I spoke with promised I would have my shipment by this weekend, it arrived yesterday

Update: UPS delivered the case of oil I ordered almost two months ago, and canceled three weeks after that. What's really weird is that I was never charged for anything, but Amsoil credited my credit card $20 yesterday. Although there is no explanation, I assume if is for my membership fee. It appears that they are more screwed up than I thought. Makes me wonder if their manufacturing is any more accurate than their shipping or billing depts.

Premium Blue is sold at the Cummins shop. That is what Cummins NW recommends. However it is also sold at Schucks/Checker/Kragen, Napa, and many others including the Dodge Dealer.

My local Walmart has it as well.
