OK getting the DD3's already have the edge comp. I don't tow a whole lot but could be alot more soon. I am thinking of getting the HX-40 or a set of twins. I don't want to cloud the city over with smoke and want to be quite reliable. What's your thoughts?

Also thinking about the Cam again and think it would work well with either set up. I'm not a racer (Unless one of those ricers look at me cock eyed or grannies trying to steal my lane) and mainly want it for strong towing and no upgading for a while.

I just drove a 2500 ETH/DEE a few weeks ago with stage 3's (I can't remember who makes them) and with the comp off, the power was WOW, and the smoke was very controllable (read - had to work to get it to smoke). AFE cannon, stock turbo, and I think OEM exhaust minus the muff, at 5280 feet in altitude.

What I am trying to say, if you get the right set of injectors, smoke won't be an issue.

I dont know how much power the dd3 put out but i have bulldog's 120 horse injectors and torque-dog chip and i could blow a black cloud of smoke that the cars behind me can't see through. But anyways I went to see the makers of bullydog and they put me on the dyno and then i asked them if i should go with a bigger turbo and they said it would be to much turbo lag and that i would'nt like it:{ But the recommended that i should buy a bigger turbine housing, like a 16cm wastegated or something similar to that. I t would have great boost and a quick spool up, oh and alot cheaper:D

I don't mind a little smoke or even moderate, I just don't want to choke everyone all the time. The twins would really reduce the smoke for me and keep those egt's nice and low (compared to a single). Just wonder how reliable they are for towing and if they will be a noticeable improvement towing over the hx-40.

If you can afford the twins go with them. As far as the cam, some friends I talked who I get all my advice from arent sold on them for the 24 valve engine. Maybe someone will chime in with the benifits to cost ratio for the cam with an explanation. :)

When I was fueled @ the 340 hp level, I had the stock HX35-12. Had lots of smoke & soot arount the exhaust tip.

Put on the HX40-16, no more soot arount the exhaust tip & smoke was all but gone. Had to really work at trying to get smoke. Lag ... sure, suppose to. A problem ... no, way no. I towed the 5'er too, no problemo.

This turbo is the stock HX40-16. Piers version spools way faster. Make the jump. ;)
