Injection pump or Lift pump? I am guessing injection pump since you said line(s). Have you put a wrench to them to see if they are tight? I had a line crack once on my first gen, it was ugly. Especially when I had to buy a set of six lines because the style had been superceded. Stupid me went to the dealer to get them but my excuse was this site didn't exist then.

I wasn't clear. The leak is after the fuel injection pump. I have not yet tried to tighten any of the nuts because I am not sure how tight they need to be.

I don't know a spec but when I did the pump on my old first gen I just snuged them up and then gave them a touch more. You don't want to bust a nut tightening them, that would be too much. If it is just one of the lines I would bet that the others will not want to move when you put a wrench on them and the one will be loose, just put the same pressure on that one that the others have.

I have recently purchased a 99 and it had fuel leaking from the # 4 injector line, where the line screws into the cylinder head. I tried tightening it and could not get it any tighter with a reasonable amount of force and the leak would not stop. The next thing I did was to loosen the line up a little and then re-tighten the line and that worked , no more leaks :)

You could pull the line off and lube the little oring on the injector connector tube and reinstall. Its a grey tube thicker than a pen and about 4" long. They pull out easily with the line off. Worked for me. 28 lb ft. NO TIGHTER. Ok.

Your driveability improves when you eliminate the fuel leaks. Trust me.

Follow-up

I thought I would let you all know how my "fix" went. I took the air intake tube off and loosened the return line from the fuel injection pump and was able to gain access to all the nuts. There was only one (the top center one) nut that was loose and I think tightening it pretty much eliminated the leak. I went to start the engine, and it wouldn't turn over. The first problem was that the negative cable to my Comp wasn't grounded. After I fixed the wiring, the engine still wouldn't turn over even after multiple cycles of the lift pump. Finally, I tapped the throttle as I was cranking and that did it. I don't know if I'm imagining things, but the truck sounds a little different. Anyway, I'm just glad it's not leaking any worse. Thank you all for your responses.
