I just bought a 1998, 2500 Cummins, 4x4. It's got 82,000 on it. I'm going ahead and change the oil and filter. What else do I need to look at first? Any problems that show up around this time?

Thanks for any help!

Welcome between CTD owners and addicts. You can't go wrong, if you change all fluid and fuel and air filter. That way you start with all fresh and for easy keeping track of your future maintenance.

Welcome to TDR

Robert, welcome to TDR. You'll generally find lots of good people and good advice here in my experience:) 2 tips on oil change; a standard filter wrench usually won't do it, I use a Sears "strap-wrench" with good results; PRE-FILL your new filter with new oil so as to not starve turbo bearings at start up:eek: Have Fun, Jim G.

If it's a 24 valve you ought to check the fuel pressure,or better yet install a fuel pressure, pyrometer, and boost gage, and oh yea, welcome aboard... Doug
