Big Shell Oil Shut down in the South

North East IL Cheap diesel!

Picked up my 2000 4x4 2500 the other day. Rides like a truck, sounds like a truck, and looks like a truck, unlike the Chevys I have owned recently.

It was close between a Cummins and a Powerstroke crew cab, but knowing how much they cost to repair, looking under that hood (good Lord there is no space:--) ) and most important of all, the Cummins just sounds freaking awesome, I think I made the right choice.

I have plenty of turbo experience since I sold my 87 Grand National to get the cash for my truck, but I am new to diesels so I know you guys are going to save my butt in the future.

I ordered my gauges already, and look forward to seeing what this bad boy can do

Auto? Stick? Color? Details man, we need details... .

but really... congrats... .

ps, that '87's prolly not all your gonna sell... hehehe;)

Is there any way to post pics here or do they need to be hosted somewhere else?

I really like the looks of it, it has the alloy wheels, is solid black, and has some mild black and gray graphics on the side. I dont really go for that stuff much but this is pretty tasteful. I already knew what a PIA black was to keep up, so I knew what I was getting into.

The interior is loaded with the SLT plus, so I like the stereo and the embroidered Ram in the headrests (leather). It has a black Leer topper too.

This one is an auto. I wanted a 6 speed, but they are completely impossible to find around here. No one wants to shift anymore it seems

Every other truck I have had has been pretty spartan inside, so this one with all the bells and whistles is pretty overwhelming.

The GN had alcohol injection, hmmm, wouldnt be too hard to build a system for this bad boy... .

6 speeds were very rare in 2000. They were attached to the SO engine as the HO didn't come out till 01. The 5 speed was the normal manual transmission in 2000.

Welcome to the TDR. You can post pics on the TDR, but I don't know how 'cause I use my website for posting them. Someone smart will be able to help you.

Klenger and BoostIsGood: I have a 6-speed ETC with 109,000 on the odometer. I put on DDII's and Edge EZ and it hauls the mail bigtime. Just too bad it does not stop as well.

And to think you could have had both - A Cummins powered Ford :D

Congrats on your purchase and welcome aboard.

Ndennis, your brakes are bad?? I don't have any problem stopping my rig. My brakes are alot better than my dad's '95, thats for sure.

The easiest way to post pictures is to crate a readers rigs gallery for yourself and load them in there. Once there, pull up the picture, click where it says "forum codes" below it and paste one of the 4 addresses (sizes) into your post. You can also attach images directly through the posting page but they don't allow very big pictures that way.

Thanks Scott, once I get home from work in the daylight one time I will try to get some pics in there. I didnt even see that area till you pointed it out.

Thanks for the welcome, the more I drive the truck the more I feel I made the right decision. Yesterday the 2002 Power Stroke van I drive at work starting spewing oil everywhere on a lady's driveway. Its got 103,000 miles on it, I think Ford had it programmed into the ECM to give out after the warranty LOL. That made me feel better too about the Cummins Oo.
