If any of you guys are sitting on the fence, so to speak, regarding Piers Govenor Spring Kit... Don't be! Even with the problems I've had, I'm as happy as the proverbial fly on poo-poos.
Like racingfanscjww, I was always looking for a way of getting over the grade at higher speed then 54 mph. That's where my truck would top out pulling the trailer in third with the 4:10 rears and an auto transmission. If I shifted to overdrive on a grade at 54 from third, I'd be on the back side of the torque curve and I couldn't accelerate.
I was stuck going against the govenor in third at 54mph. NOT ANY MORE!
!
Now, I can power up to about 65 and then shift to overdrive. Powersmokes move over, the mighty Piersified Cummins is is going to make you eat dust and cough smoke.
I swear that GSK and the readjusted lever make the truck perform better then I dreamed. I think the lever was always partially stuck under the plate
and underfueling. The truck just woke up and now, with the GSK, it pulls HARD right to about 3450 RPM. I can light the tires at will now ,couldn't do that before, and the truck quite litterally jumps up and roars to life.
More smoke and EGTs too but if I slide the plate back to help EGTs and slide the AFC housing back a bit to help with low end fueling and adjust the star wheel, she will be purrr-fect.
Sorry Bill, I guess I'm not looking so longingly at that Cranberry colored F*rd anymore. I was eyeballing it pretty closly at Tulare when Bill said ,"It's for sale" especially when my truck was DOA.
Piers and Blair saved my rear at Tulare too, because of a lost woodruff key in the shut off lever and the truck never turning off at 2 in the morning. That's yet another story.
So, get on that phone and call Piers at 1-604-853-9396 and order yours today so you too can "be all you want to be"!
