Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) I'm tired of this!

Got the new 44 and LP on from DC. Seems to have stopped the "Pulsating power" under acceleration. However, that "hammering" sound is still there. I believe it's not internal, however at around 40 mph. and normal driving it belched (3) times like it died and came back to life before you could get your foot off the go pedal. I'm taking it back tomorrow to see if the whatchamacallit that has to do with the pedal to the pump is bad. If this isn't it, what could be going on I got the huge fuel lines and banjos on so I wouldn't starve the 44, hopefully. I'm at a loss:{ as to what the heck is going on. Has anybody got any ideas or had anything like happen to them before

have you unplugged the COMP box and tried driving it ????... ... ..... chris

I put it back stock except for the DD2's to see if the problem was solved after the 44 and LP change out. I'm I even let some of my other local CTD buddies drive it and listen. They ALL said it definately was an unusual/non normal sound. I is coming from the area of the left side of the engine. Maybe I'll find out something tomorrow at the dealer. I wonder if any of the cam/crank sensors could possibly be causing this? My check engine light never has came on or left any codes to date, surely I'm not the only one who has had these types of problems.

have you changed the fuel filter?



try this: turn key on and then bump the starter, but don't start it--the lift pump will run--see if you hear the hammering sound---if so change the filter and try it again--then report back---the dealer will most likely find nothing wrong---



do a search on crank position sensor--throttle position sensor and Map sensor and see if you find a cure--it could be one of these sensors----chris

I changed to FF about 2K ago. I don't think it's bad, I have mega fuel on the farm storage and am intensely religious about clean fuel. Infact, every other load we get I change FF's on the pumps. (Learned the hard way many years ago). So, off to the dealer I go! I have been reading about the different sensors last night. I'm still somewhat confused how these could be in realation to what I'm having trouble with, but I'm sure it has something to do with it... . Surely! BTW have you ever heard of the "Engine just simply shutting off and back on again instantly deal"? These problems must be in relation? I hope some code has been set.

sounds like an elec. problem in the steering column... or somewhere... loose ground wire?? shutting off and coming back real quick??? It's possessed,lol
