I have a 96 Ram 2500 3:56. I cannot bring myself to pay the $2,500 for the Banks stinger plus any other options out there?

D96,

There are many options for much less money than Banks. Check out TST http://www.tstproducts.com/ or Piers Harry, someone else could provide the link.

Just keep reading and you will learn more about these motors than you ever imagined.

As long as you have guages, sliding the stock plate around will yield more performance.

Stick or auto?

First off, is your truck a stick or an auto? If its a stick you have the HP pump already. Piers has a awesome deal on some 370 injectors this month that will really wake your truck up. From there you can add a camplate and make some serious power. You will need gauges first so you will know when things are getting hot. :D If you are really cheap you can just slide your stock camplate (as mentioned earlier) for a nice power gain.

A camplate will cost you under $300, it's easy to install, and you can pick how much more HP you want (within reason).

First thing is first, gauges. Then gut the CAT and get a good free flowing muffler.

For the 12v guru check out www.piersdiesel.com

Injectors and a plate will give you a lot of power for around $700 or less depending on finding good buys on injectors and your stock 215s will sell for a nice amount to help offset the costs. If you want more info e mail me. I hope to make 325 or better tomorow on the dyno.

John,

got your springs ready for tomorrow. I pulled my cam plate tonight and saw the 4000rpm kit was already installed. I got yours in my passenger side door ready for tomorrow.

Don~

Either way, real performance is much better and cheaper than one size fits all kits. Go with something that will require more skill and you'll be much better off. The above posts further illustrate what you should do.

DieselB59 said it best.

Take the time to read the post on the TDR. Don’t hesitate to ask what you think is a dumb question. Whatever you ask has been ask before, and will be ask again. That is one of the great things about TDR.

I am still trying to understand all this (still stock). Even at that, I could write a book (small one) on what I have learned.

My suggestion is to go with gauges first  , EGR, Boost and Transmission temp if you are auto. After installing mine, I had to change a couple of driving habits. With a modified engine, I could have broken something.

I have never seen a kit I was satisfied with. Buy individual parts as you understand and can afford them.

You will be amazed at what you can do to your Ram power, with $2500. :)

My dyno run was huge success. See my sig. I ran 389. 3 RWHP and 880 torque and I bet you can buy the same parts for around $800. 00. Thanks Again Don and Cord.

Deezul1,what clutch are you running,i would like to put the 370 injecters in but im afraid my stock clutch wont take it,i already have the #11 plate, also what egts are you seeing. thanks Jason

I am running a stock clutch with 145,000 miles on it and up till saturday it was ok 98% of the time and I towed a 6000lb TT 3500 miles through mountains with no trouble. After Mr 12 Valve (Cord Reynolds) worked on my pump the stock clutch is not cuttin it at all. My dyno #s are about 50hp higher than I ever dreamed I would reach with this setup. The truck is so much fun to drive now my wife has a hard time keeping me home. My EGTs can get ugly but are easy to control. Flat out top speed runs will do it otherwise no problem.
