OK, Who put the impediment in the filler tube? In a 97 did DC put in some sort of valving in the filler tube? A "rollover" valve? I am unable to get a tube down there to syphon the fuel out. I want to drop the tank. How do others drain the tank?

I know the 96 models had a roll over valve. If you need to siphon the tank pull the big hose off the filler spout and put the siphon hose in at that point.

yeah the goverment in 93 said that all vehicals had to have a ball "valve" in the filler line to prevent tank siphoning

Just take off the filler tube and remove the ball and holder. It is easy and then you can fill up as fast as you want.

I disconnected the filler tube and did manage to drain the tank... . (Funny how dinner tasted like diesel. ) The tank is lowered but am fighting the quick (misnomer) disconnects. Any trick to getting them to release?

A lot of patience, and make sure there is still slack at the connectors. Push them together, then squeeze the releases.
