Well after 14 weeks of waiting , I finally took delivery of my new C&C. I only have 175 miles on it, but the 6. 7 is a very nice running engine. I love the exhaust brake. The 6 speed manual with the 3:73 rear gives me 1950 RPM @ 65 MPH. I should see better milage than my '99, which had 4:10's W/ 5 spd. . I'm taking an 800 mile trip this week to NC . The 25th &26th I'll be going to OH to pick up some equipment and can't wait to tow with it. The only problem I need to solve is the lamp out indicator comes on and says RR & LR turn signals are out. I put new LED lights on my body and wired to the original tail light harness . All lights work properly. I don't think the LED's draw enough. Any suggestions ?

Thanks,

Jim

Can't help you with your light problem, but I believe you will be happy with the truck. I also believe you will end up getting better mileage than you got with your previous truck. I'm up to within . 5 of what I got with my 03 and I had a 6-speed and 3. 73 gears in it and I'm still not broken in yet. (13,500 miles) One thing to let you know about, don't get shook up if the truck goes into an "active burn" while you are going down the road. It will smoke like crazy for about 30 seconds. Mine has done it 8 or 10 times. I haven't seen it do it for the past 10 days so maybe it has the exhaust all cleaned out now. I don't know if it is from fuel or maybe the exhaust has some residue left in it from manufacturing. Like I said, it is no big deal, just don't be surprised if it happens.

Enjoy your truck

Hey there EB!

Do you plan to put gauges on the new rig?

I would love to know what the EGT's read when that "active burn" starts! :D

I wasn't really planning to, I'm going to leave this one "bone stock". I'll let someone else that doesn't make their living with their truck see what type of mods work. After I get out of warranty, 180k on the Aisin transmission, who knows. By then there might be something I could do.

As far as the active regeneration, (active burn) I really don't know if it would show up on an egt gauge, it is way past where your probe would be where the burn is. I'm sure someone will find out before long.

jmorse- don't know much about new CTD's, but if you put a diode in-line with the led lights it will draw enough to keep that lamp out light from coming on. Check the forum on led tail lights to find out more.

Hey EB

I just ordered my C&C and was charged an extra $1300 (or I think is was $1800) for the DPF which you don't see on the C&C on lots that were first built before the new pricing in January and the CTD was also more than listed on the sticker as well. What was your CTD option cost and did you have to pay extra for the DPF?

Not cool, their gonna start the shady antics now!

There was no charge for the DPF at all on my truck. The engine option was $5,555, the Aisin transmission was $2,295, and the exhaust brake was $300, (which I understand is standard, no charge, now. )

Well there is now and I believe I paid $6000. 00 for the CTD. I guess that it is my fault for the higher cost on me because I waited on purpose so I could get the higher HP that never materialized. I should of bought before, but the C&C that are on the lots are pretty bare bones and would have probably paid the same. Now I understand why only ST,s were on the lots, so we would believe that they are cheaper than they are. The only Laramie,s I saw were on display at the Rodeo Finals in Vegas. At least I got a preview of what mine will look like. The only reason I went there was to look at the Elite bed by B&W I ordered on Thursday and was pleasantly surprized to see them on something other than a ST.

Light problem

I had leds on my dmax and had troubles so I just got some regular tail lights and hooked them in with the leds and taped them up with black tape and hid them up under the bed it worked for me.

I just got back from a trip tp NC and put 1200 miles on my new truck. I love it! I averaged 13. 2 mpg. The exhaust brake is great. The 6 spd. manual is perfect w/3:73 rear. I'm sure mpg's will go up after break in. My '99 only averaged 11-12 mpg because of the 4:10 rear and higher rpm @ highway speeds. I'm going to OH next week and will be bringing a load back on my trailer. Can't wait to tow with it.

Option 3A1 Clean diesel technology system

MSRP $995 FWP $1024 (I havent figured out what the abreviation "FWP" is )

Its showing up in all my bids.....

So... we pay for the govt regs several times over

FWP is Factory Wholesale Price. Yes the invoice is higher than the MSRP price. That is the first time I have seen that, but it is not the first time that the factory squeezes the margin to dealers between invoice and MSRP.

As to the new pricing, all manufacturers reserve the right to change prices during the model year, and all of them do so. It is usually not as dramatic as the Clean Diesel system charge, however.

My (3CG) Clean Diesel Tech System priced out at, $995 & $1024. too.

I don't have a "FWP".

Are the 6. 7L engine blocks painted red? They are in other applications and I was wondering if the Dodge trucks are as well.

Ryan

Nope, they are painted just like the old ones. If it didn't have the extra emissions stuff on it and the plastic top part that says 6. 7 turbo diesel on it, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference.
