It's equipped with:

Front and rear Dana 44 axles with airlockers

31 inch tires (mud terrrian I think) are standard

Front and rear disc brakes

new jeep

Lhotka,

In sep 01 DC had a jeep jamboree not far from here. I attended and drove a couple of jeeps in the mud, Some fun was had. Anyway, while talking to one of the reps he did say something about a new jeep but I have since forgotten about it.

It sounds pretty good but, I'm locked in to paymts for my RAM and just bought my wife a new Buick. 0 finance hooked me.

Nothing new for Billy for a few years. :D

I want one bad!!!!

But I'm pretty sure I can't afford one-unless I was to win the lottery... Sweet ride though-takes a lot of stones to build a vehicle with air lockers front and rear and 4:1 transfer case gearing... .

Jason

That's right JHansen, I forgot about the low transfer case gearing.

Cobra, I am sure you're wife will like the new Buick. Couldn't talk her into a new jeep though?:D

new jeep

Lhotka,

She loves the Buick, she hates the Jeep ever since new. Won't ride in it. Too rough for her. She also hates the Harley. Rode on it once, got cold and never again. That's ok, I have fun with my toys while she sits at home. :D

I read that in a recent magazine and thought that pretty good right from the factory. Now if they only did that 5 years ago when I first bought my current Jeep and started modifing it. I spent to much on my current one to sell it and besides it gets around pretty good, but I sure would love to have coil springs instead of the old spring under leaf springs for more flex and smoother ride.

finnaly

finnaly a rig that would work well off road in stock form. still needs a 4 inch articulating suspension though

The new Rubicon also comes with 4:11 gears, gas shocks, and you can order with the manual 5-speed, or 4-speed auto. Side by side, it also appears to sit a couple inches higher than other new Jeeps.

I've also heard that they are nearly all sold out already! It's about time one of the big 3 realized that some people actually do off road their 4wd trucks! I hope those owners don't run into warranty problems for using them for what they were designed for. Can you imagine seeing some of "those" service writers out there (and you all know what I'm talking about) when someone comes in and explains they were out rock crawling and busted an axle or bent a rim. I'd love to be a fly on the wall for that conversation!

or some kid got one as a present and decides to show all his friends a 4wd burnout in 4low lockers locked 1st gear and 4000 rpm clutch drop. snap goes axles. or a grenaded clutch from someone going as fast as they can in 4 low in 5th gear and down shifting to 1st. [clutch will be doing ±12000 rpm] should be interesting... .

I was told by DC yesterday that they are done scheduling Jeep Wrangler vehicles to be built for December, due to the amount of orders and the upcoming Holidays.

I wish i could convince my wife to get one. It would be a nice addition to the stable. She likes her Jeep Grand Cherokee Ltd all decked out in leather. I look at my 85 CJ7, 7 inches of lift, 35" tires, fuel ijected, 4:10 gears, detroits front and rear, dana 44 front, matkins frame extended 4 inches with shackle reversal, 9000lb winch, twin stick 300 case and dented body from tipping her over in Illinois, and say "Yah, but this is more fun than looking nice". :D

I wouldn't look for that to last too long. women get lonely sitting at home alone. I would advise a hobby you are both interested in... . like pronto :D
