Powerstrokes: crank longer on start-up?

My Buddy has a 98 12V nice truck. I showed him my new 6spd and he loved it. He bought one and is now making payments on both of them. ! I can not imagine me doing this. He has 90,000 on the 12V and wants me to post it in the classifieds for $20xxx. I did not have nerve enough to ask what his combined payments were.

It's A Cherry Dan.

It an SLT 2500 4wd Club Cab S/B with Westin bars. It has about all options. He just turned 90,700 on it. Auto with 3:54s and a Camper shell painted the same dark green color. No dents. He has come down to $20,000 for it. I just put it in the classifieds.

That is not nearly as overpriced as some in there, some of the trucks in the classifieds must have gold valvecovers or something:D :D If it were a quad cab it would be a hot ticket, add a longbed and a manual trans and it would be smoking hot.

Quad Cab?

This has the seats behind the Driver but only 2 doors. I am kind of unsure what you guys are calling the quad cab. I thought my 2001 (4 Doors) was the quad cab.

I Guess I Done Good !

You guys had me worried, thought I was going to change the add. Just wondering when the Quad cab came out? What year? I thought 1999. Here Is the style Jim has. (my old 96)

98 was the first year with quad doors. There are a few 12V with the quads and a few 24V with the club cab. The 24V replaced the 12V about mid-year in the 98 production. Doesn't really make sense, but that is how it shook out.

So, if I was to loose my job (which I have) and needed to sell my truck (see sig), what could I get for it?

Ken, check the NADA website and Kelly Blue Book site too. They have retail and wholesale prices. Where you are the demand is a lot higher so you can probably get a bit better than wholesale. HTH.

Ken, I ran your truck through the NADA and Kelly Blue book sites. I used a zip code from SW Colorado, 30K for mileage, and your sig for options. NADA lists about $28. 5K trade-in and $32K retail. KBB list the private party sell price at almost $29K. It has been my experience that both sites are high. Your truck minus the aftermarket stuff sells here new for about $29K, but demand out there is a lot higher. I think that if you got $26K-27K for it you will be doing good, and $25K is a realistic sell price. The market is horrible right now with cheap money and lots of stock at the dealers. Great time to buy a new one, but my situation is the same as yours. Hope this helps.

PS, if you decide to sell it send me the info, I have some contacts in the southwestern parts of CO and northern NM that might be able to help you move it.

I give, LSmith!

Jeez, Howard. 5 posts in less than 24 hours on one thread? You're smokin' me man!:p I guess I should just concede the race to 1000 posts right now. ;) ;)

LSMITH

Thanks for the response. I have always felt that the NADA and blue book nubers were high too. I bought the truck 09/18/01, 1 week after the attacks because of the 3. 9% financing. Since I worked for my employer for 21 years, I felt pretty safe. NOT. Got laid off 10/11/01. The truck has just over 5000 miles on it, and is pretty well loaded, except leather. It's very nicely setup for 5er pulling. I still owe about $32,700 on it, so selling it for 25K - 29K would be a killer. It would cost me more to sell it than to keep making the payments. We're putting the townhouse up for sale tonight to support my habbits. We'll be moving into an appartment for a while. I have somewhat the same situation with the 5er, but actually have some equity in it, but still owe more than I could sell it for. The title of this thread fits me.
