Anyone had loose front end cause TT sway?

I've been wanting to run an extra trailer plug into the bed of my truck and I know it's been addressed. However I was looking around last night at the plug that's by the license plate and noticed a quick disconnect harness on the back of it. Has anyone unplugged this and split one lead to the bed and one to the stock location? Could this be done?

I want to do the same thing. The problem I'm having is, I can't find anybody the sells the male and female plugs to tee into the wiring harness and has the 7 wire output. One option is getting the Draw-tite (part no 18381) and splicing into that with a 7 pin cable. That Draw-tite part has the correct plugs for a Dodge put has a 4 pin output. I may go this route. The nice thing about this is you do not have to cut or splice into the factory wiring.

I did the splice every wire method. It's not too bad but I recommend actually soldering each splice and taping carefully. I also used some spiral wire wrap to protect the new wire where it is exposed.

The last thing I need is a short or have a wire cut while pulling 15,000 pounds!!

On my 2nd gen, I removed the 7 pin harness from the stock receptacle and added another harness in there and screwed the wires into each spot and ran the added harness into the bed area. Works great.

I installed mine (quite some time ago) exactly as per Klengers post, except, I ran a heavy gauge wire (fused of course) directly from the battery to the battery charge pin.

It works great. Thanks Klenger
