I constantly read that it is a no-no to run fuel in the cab. Why? I've never heard of a in-cab leak with a mechanical gauge in 8 years that I've been around the TDR. I ran one on my '01. 5 for quite a while and never had a problem. I did use, however, a needle valve to close off the flow just in case. The only downside I see in using this setup is the cost of braided stainless line from the FASS to the overhead mount I am going to use. Twelve feet of -4AN is not cheap. I don't trust electronic sending units for long term use. Also, AutoMeter does not make a mechanical fp gauge in their Cobolt series, but they sure are purty.

Has anyone ran across a failure in the cab?

Discuss! :-{} Oo.

picture this:

you're in an accident, the engine/fuel pump wont shut off & the truck starts on fire. for some reason you cant exit the cab. either as a result of the accident, or the fire, your fuel gauge syststem springs a leak a begins to coat the inside of the cab with a nice hot mist of diesel.

food for thought...
