I just made a 1200 mile round trip to Elizabeth City, NC. It was raining and cold all the way up and I-20 East to I-95 is a washboard. After getting on I-95 at Florence, I noticed a vibration rattle in the right front dash. I could remove the lower glove box but couldn't see how to remove the upper one. I felt up in there and there were some loose wires but I couldn't do anything to secure them because I couldn't figure out how to get the upper glove box out. It was Chinese water torcher till I got to Elizabeth City with the rattle being constant at road speed. I went to Carolina Dodge and they were booked solid so I told the SM that if they would just tell me how to remove the upper glove box or take it out for me, I would take care of the rattle and reinstall. One of the mechanics showed me how to do it. When I removed the upper box, the wiring harness for the vent temp sensor had a cable support that was not installed.........read as just hanging there touching the right side of the glove box.....hard plastic to hard plastic. I snapped it into the hole it was meant to be in and then put two cable ties on the excess wire to secure them so they couldn't touch the box. That solved the problem.

So in case you need to get up there to the speaker or anything else, here is how you do it.

The box is held in by compression clips but in order to slide it out, there is one 7 mm screw that has to be removed. Remove the lower glove box by first removing the tension cable on the right side. To do that, open the door, locate the tension cable, slide to the rear and pull it straight out of the mounting hole. Then let the door open all the way, pull the sides toward the center and the door will drop down and lift off.

The retainer screw for the upper box is then visible from the bottom. There are two tabs on the rear bottom of the upper box. The left one is where the retainer screw is located. It's easy to see because the screw goes through that tab which is the same color as the box. Remove the screw, reach in through the lower box and press the upper box firmly toward you and it will release and slide out. To reinstall, slide the upper box back into position over the latch and then press on each of the four corners and the compression clips will slide in. Reinstall the tab screw, reinstall the lower box and it's done.

Removing the upper box gives access to the speaker, passenger side temp sensor and the fan/temp door assembly.

Thanks to the guys at Carolina Dodge for not making me endure drive 600 more miles with that irritating rattle.
