Fraud Warning

what is stock housing centimeter on 180hp 98 12v?

luckily I had some on hand or I would have been running to the parts store. I found those shavings on the threaded portion that holds the removable cap on also.

I am going to get some 5/8" clamps. I hate using clamps that are too big. I see the brass filtering media on the gaskets too. Clean it up before installing. I found it a little trickey getting the filter to line up w/ the magnet. Also one end adjusts for lengh. Use this to make sure the brass filter is in the glass housing tight.

I gotta say it caught alot of crap in its first 100 miles

I hooked garden a hose up to the heater core just to see if anything nasty was laying in there. Didn't catch anything coming out but I figured since I had the lines off... ...

Anyway, it went in with no problems. The hose clamps are over-sized but they sealed fine. As far as heating the cab... no problems there either. It was in the low 40's on a test run and the heater was working as usual. Plenty hot!

I'll give it a few days to see if the filter catches any debris.

I assume that is a tempered glass enclosure. It would make a helluva mess if it ever broke. Is it fairly thick? I like the idea of filtering the coolant and seeing what is in there, but I would worry about it breaking.

Allnew,

The wall thickness measures . 145 on my calipers. Seems nice & heavy.

Not sure if this was mentioned before but the filter has a bypass spring bulit into it. Incase it clogs.

When you unscrew the "Inlet" side, this adjusts for length. I little tricky at first IMO.

Matthysse,

I borrowed your pics for the Dodge Intrepid board. My friend is a moderator there.

Why?? Sorry I don't get it. Sounds like a gimmick to me.

Coolant filters seem pretty common on the big rigs - and they seem to catch lots of crud - just wonder if the ones we see in this thread have enough capacity to do the job without need for constant cleaning. I went to their website, and did order their radiator cap anode setup to prevent cooling system electrolysis...

I think it will have enough capacity. My truck only has 6500 miles on it, so the cooling system is still clean, and the filter has yet to catch anything. I think Signal73's system was just dirty for some reason. After he gets it cleaned out, I don't think he'll need to rinse the filter that often. I got the radiator cap anode, too. Hopefully that will also help keep things clean.
