In Tank Lift Pump - TDR Buyers Guide Updated Information?

On Page 255 of TDR BG, in the section labeled "05 - 07 What To Do" the information leaves off at a datae where there was little information avaiable on the longevitiy of the in tank lift pump solution on 05 models and up.

Can someone point me to any updated information that may have been published on the in tank lift pump


BTW - I have just around 90K on the original stock lift pump. Maybe others could simply post miles achieved to date, or recorded miles before failure. I am sure many others have many more miles that this on their 3rd Gen. This may help myself and others and also help to record some data to help to update where the TD-BG left off.

I haven't seen anything concrete, other than it is a very reliable unit. It supplies adequate fuel for at lease 450rwhp and easily pushes thru 3 filters without losing pressure or flow.

agreed.
the in-tanks will have failures (after all humans made 'em) but the failure rate is MUCH lower than canister mounted.
The most likely explanation for this is any pump is more efficient at pushing a fluid rather than pulling a fluid. Plus the pump is submerged (most of the time)in fuel (runs cooler).

We have 139,000 on our '06 Mega tow vehicle with no problems - - the pusher doesn't work as hard as a suction setup. Don't worry yet.

The intank on my '06 quit right around 100K miles. That's just my luck tho.

Thanks for reply / feedback. Hope I can get that long of life out of mine!!!

How's the muffler delete in terms of noise level. I know this is subjective. I am getting ready to perform this mod as my stock muffler is rusting away quickly, but all other components are in good to very good condition. I read somewhere that since the mega-cab has both the catalytic converter and a post muffler resonator that deleting the muffler results in a 5 - 8 db noise increase. (Not sure if this is a true or reasonable expectation) That would be less than twice as loud as stock. Since my stock truck is about half as loud as my buddy's stock 2nd Gen I thought this would be a good plan.

I dont mind some performance type noise at all but I have to say the trucks with the straight pipes are a tad obnoxious in the campground at 7:00AM. That's for me anyway. Just dont want to be "That Guy". BTW - Love open pipes at the tracks and meets though!!!

I don't consider it loud. we don't tow with it though. however my 06 does not have a post muffler resonator not sure if that matters. my older brother pulls a tt with an 07 mega and it is a tad loud at take off.

I deleted the Catalytic conv.on my 07 and got rid of the resonator, put aftermarket muffler on and towing puts out quite a bit of drone, I have a cutout valve before the muffler and i can't open it while towing as it is so loud it irritates the heck out of me in the cab, if not towing it's fine open or closed, sounds good, just can't tow anything with it open

New in-tank unit seems to be working fine, will be happy if it lasts as long as the previous (original) type.
