It is not reasonable to criticize a clutch when you haven't seen what failed. Could be pilot bearing, throwout bearing, or the spring might have given up. That is the only part that was reused as it was clear everything else was destroyed by sled pulling extreme abuse. While you are at it, why not criticize the Mitchell clutch too? It didn't just fail, it EXPLODED over the weekend. Some innocent fans had to duck to avoid flying shrapnel. Not bashing, just what happened. Sure glad I wasn't in the way

It's one's privilege to discount dyno testing. So did NASCAR drivers before Lawrence educated them.

Everyone here should be old enough to realize that any parts used in sled pulling have VERY limited lifetimes.

Roughness on takeoff can be minimized by taking off in first, or by lessening the rpm difference between engine and trans as you engage the last bit.

Mr. Donnelly.....

Obviously no clutch setup for these trucks is without their respective flaws,,Anything could have created the situation that led to the demise of the Mitchell assembly that failed at Scheids,,I'd be willing to bet though there was not a manufactured unit available to handle they way he left the line,no matter what the materials were made of,,It appears to the naked eye that you seem to know alot about clutches and even go as far as to say earlier that you sold one to another member so my question from a realier thread will stand and I'll repeat it to you,,Are you posting here as a vendor or as a concerned owner??,,See the way I see it,no one has developed the perfect clutch for all applications, instead we have a few good ones that will handle specfic jobs,,Briar Hopper is correct in saying decide what you want to do with the truck then install the clutch that will fit your demands,,I myself have the carnage yet of a Centerforce explosion layiong around that was not done pulling a sled, but, done while twisting it to hard on the street...

With the shortage of saftey equipment available for these trucks and nothing SFI approved yet explosions will me magnified and one would certainly hope this equipment is not far from being marketed to assist us,,With no one reported injured there during the event we can all rest assured that this incident will prompt the aftermarket industry to hear or pleas for these parts and expedite the manufacturing of them,,So clutches who has the best one,not sure,BUT,of the ones I have driven Mitchells is the best all around unit and is capable of handling anything you put to it,,His truck, his choice... ... ... ... .
