inchpounds????

if you don't have an inchpound torque wrench can you divide the number of inchpounds by 12 to come up with the corresponding foot pounds to torque bolts down? chris

If the inch pounds torque needed is above something like 150 it should work fine. I would be leery of trying to do something under 100 inch pounds with a ft. pound wrench because of accuracy. bg

Yes that's correct. Remember that to make sure you are getting an accurate ready, you need to stay between 20% min and 80% max of the range of the wrench:ie to torque to 80 pounds (either ft or in) you need at least a 100 pound wrench respectively. In the same example you need to torque to a min of 20 pounds.

Justbeam, I learn something new everyday. Thank you very much. Maybe one of these days they will be selling digital torque wrenches and you can just set them for inches or feet.

I bought an inch lb torque wrench at Pep Boys for around $25. Decided not to risk converting ft lb wrench with small measurement. Worked great.
