Seems like someone is always figuring out how to build a better mouse trap. Personally, I'll stick with my current procedure and enjoy life. ;) Besides, I like getting used oil on my hands.

I suspect that...

the amount of wear saved on the engine is negligble. I have never worried about the wear that occurs at start up. He did not sound real sharp anyway... reving the engine above idle at startup. I don't care what the "Dodge" owner's manual says, this is not correct procedure. :p

Changing the oil gives me the perfect opportunity to inspect the underside of the truck and make sure everything is in order. :)

And the delay he is seeing on his 99 Ram guage is the electronics catching up with the real oil pressure.

It took some getting use to watching the 0 oil pressure for the first 15 seconds or what seemed like minutes.

Besides all this - I get tired of vehicles after 150,000 miles and look for excuses to sell or trade up to newer model.

I bit and bought one ten years ago. Did not last for 30000 miles.

IMO if you want to preserve the life of the engine, ,plugging it in in the winter will provide a greater benefit.
