How much harder is a turned up fuel pump on your engine than the stock settings? My truck just hit 200k, and I'm second guessing about the turned up fuel pump... I can't afford a rebuild right now.

you should'nt have a problem if you don't go crazy, with the stock injectors 1/2 -3/4 of a turn is safe, i got into trouble when i had stock injectors and was up to two + turns on the pump, ran good for about 25k then the pump went, 3/4 of a turn before that ran perfect for 60k ... ... ... ... CB,

Pump life is a funny thing in these pickups. I talked to the guy that runs Bootheel Diesel in Sikeston, and he's seen cranked up pumps (40-75% over stock) run 500K; and stock pumps die at 80K. My 91 has been turned up to where it is now for 10 years, 200K+, and still going strong. I would guess it is 50% above stock. WHat is "stock" boost for the first 1st gen trucks? Intercooled is 16-18. Mine has run 25+ since I got the guages. I've hit almost 29, but looked at EGT and chickened out.

Sorry to get off track, but I'd say if your pump is doing ok, and sounds good, doesnt stumble or take forever to start in the AM, up to 1 turn should be safe. It isnt any harder on the engine itself. And with the increased pressure, you might see a slight MPG gain.
