Well, I went to the dog pound today and someone stole my CAT! They also ran off with my stupid muffler. Well anyway, UPS left me a box with a Dynomax # 17223, 3" straighthrough. I like it a lot, deep rumble at 2250 rpms but quiet on the road.

Also decided to move the stock plate all the way forward. Easy job except that break off bolt, what a PITA ! I think Cummins must torque every bolt on these things with an impact wrench. .

By the way, love the board. It's the best thing I've come across since sliced bread... Can't wait to get my gauges and some DTT stuff.

moparnut, first off welcome. What do you think of the power gains from the plate slide? I've been concidering doing this until I can get my tst plate. Worth the time? Thanks.

DB,

Oh yeah, the plate job is easy. Should only take about an hour. My truck is a '95 like TST's,and a while back,TST sent me a booklet and in it they said they gained 21hp by simply sliding the stock plate forward. I have no reason to argure it because it made a huge difference in performance. I also threw in a boost elbow.

I believe the best you can get using the stock plate is about 25 hp. I have changed plates in 4 different trucks and the stock plate location was different in each. Also if you are your own warranty station like me buy some 6mm (I believe) allen screws from the local hardware store-they saved me lots of time as I tend to spend alot of time messing around with my cam plates.

I've got a 97 with the stock plate slid full forward and I dynoed at 283 RWHP. I didn't get a baseline on that so I don't know what I was running before.

I will warn you though. With the stock plate slid forward, I can get my EGT's well above 1600 deg. I did it the other day racing a gasser. I do have a boost elbow installed and am currently running about 35psi of boost at WOT. That's even with a K&N RE-0880 filter so if your running a stock box you might be getting that thing hot and not even know it.

Get some gauges before you really run the dog out of it.

Where are you guys getting the boost elbows? I've also hear of someone using an adjustable needle to control the boost signal. Anyone know the aplication for that one?

Been off the net for a while. I really saw an increase in power by sliding the plate forward. I knew I wasn't going to pull anything with it for a while so I wasn't too worried about EGT's around town. I've got some gauges picked out that I'll probably order tomarrow. I also replaced the break-off screw and the other flathead screw with two hex head bolts like those on the bottom, that way it will be quicker when I get a TST plate. . :D

I have a stockish truck. I made the plate slide a little more than all the way with a dremil. I am running a 1/4 mile in 15. 641 weighing 6400#. I dynoed at 295 hp, but based on best 1/4 mile top speed, i have 350 hp. G-tech says I have 335. A slid plate will do alot on the right engine. 42 psi, few hudred past 1500*, my wastegate doesnt do much with it unpluged.

The hp gains depend on the year, transmission, and what that pump feels like puttin out.
