My great uncle sent this to me. I wish I would have known about my grand father and what he did during the war. Unfortunately I never knew until after he passed away that he was a B-17 pilot and was shot down twice. I would have loved to have flown with him in a B-17. This heros grand kids got a very special and one of a kind experience with their grand father.

I enjoy breakfast with a P-51 crew chief of the 4th fighter group once each month at my church "Mens Breakfast" Pretty sharp individual and enjoys telling about it.

I once met a fighter pilot from the famed 56th FG at a small air show just over in Toledo (OH) back when I was in college.

I met a friend of a friendabout 15 years ago who had been a WWII pilot. Neat old guy who had maintained his license and kept his own plane, but lusted for something with a stick instead of a yoke. He bought a fully restored Stearman biplane down south and brought it home. (here in MI)

I met him one Saturday morning at a rural (a hanger with a NS and EW runway amid tall corn) airport. We took the covers off, rolled it out, topped the fuel and had a nearly 2 hour ride in the sky. He seemed happy to have somebody so excited about flying. (and with a strong enough stomach for his stuff) I had never been in an open cockpit where you hear and feel the power of a big radial engine out front. It's not a speed demon, but a total blast to fly.

SHobbs, thank you for sharing that clip! I had to watch it twice and sent the link to my family and friends. Outstanding!
