I actually ordered an new F-250 with the 6. 0 and Torqshift transmission. The week they were supposed to start production (11/4)they began to have injector problems. They are still producing trucks at a reduced rate due to problems. A couple days ago none that they built would even start. In light of this I canceled my order and am waiting for the 48RE to come out. I believe that eventually Ford will fix its problems and have the fastest powertrain on the market. Will it be the most reliable or the best for towing, I have my doubts. I have driven my 02 quad cab for over a year now and have not had any rattles or QC issues. I like the interior of the Dodge. I was disappointed with the dash of the Ford. It is very plain and plastic, it really makes the truck look old when its new. If the crew cab size is important get the GMC, or wait a couple years for Ford to work out their problems on someone else. Each company has its share of problems so get what you want and enjoy.

Another Point About "Reviews"

The guys doing the reviewing are almost always car guys, not truck guys, and to make matters worse they're V8 guys. So what you say? They don't know how to drive a low revving inline 6. I've read some reviews and laughed out loud. It was obvious they were shifting way too soon and not revving the I6 lile you should to make power. Remember; you can't drive those V8s like that. Sure these trucks are slow if you lug them every shift. Just an observation.

Remember the Toyota Tundra commercials where they said they could out-tow ANYTHING and had the little Tundra passing a Semi? I still haven't found a Tundra driver that will let me hook my Logging chain to them to see who pulls who!

Chevy vrs Dodge

I have a 92 K1500 with 90,000 miles... I bought it with 3800 on it and a 2001. 5 Dodge Cummins with 46,000miles purchased new. As far as fit and finish there is no comparison... My mexican built Dodge is much better. Ive owned three Dodges all gassers except this one and they all been quieter than the Chevy. That's not to say the Chevy isn't a bad truck, it just rattles a lot. One note in favor of the Dodge... a solid front axel... . in case you run

into a rock climbing out of a gully. Most of my friends drive Fords (gassers) My luck with Ford trucks hasn't been good... although as far as cars go I'm a Ford man. Finally I had a member of our gun club with a 2001 Ford F250 Powerstroke notice my Dodge and asked me what milage I got. I told him and he just groaned... I could read his thoughts by the look on his face ... . "I shoulda bought a Cummins!"

I have always been a Ford fan. My dad has always bought Fords and has never had a problem with any diesel he has owned since his first one in 94.

He now has a 2000 Ford F-350SD PSD auto and regularly tows a gooseneck trailer with a tractor and implements on it that grosses about 16,000lbs. No glow plug problems ever. No transmission problems. Nothing except the stock clutch went out at 120k miles on the 94.

That being said, I love my Dodge and am only going to trade it for an '03 HO 6 speed (since they are selling them here for $33,750. 00) when I can get out from under my current one. I hate the Dodge auto. My wife wants me to get a Ford Crew Cab. I don't ever sit back there so I don't see the point and my daughter will be plenty comfortable back there for several years so room is not an issue for me.

I had a Tundra. I liked it a lot but the gas mileage sucked up here in the hills and Toyota wouldn't fix the brakes under warranty.

I, too, traded my '01 Tundra for my '03. I loved that truck except for the gas mileage when towing. There was no shortage of power, it's just that I'd get 7 mpg with a headwind coming back from Kansas. Normally, with no wind, I'd get about 13 mpg when towing, 16 mpg on the Interstate and 14 or so in town. I get about 19. 5 mpg in town with my 2500!

I was one of the very early subscribers to The TDR back in '92 or '93. I dropped the subscription a couple of years ago when I got serious about a Duramax, but I came back last month and I'm damn glad I did. Thanks to everybody for sharing their views.

The fit and finish on my 01 is great I have 20,000 miles on the truck with no problems. Never thought I'd own a Dodge. Totally happy with the truck and estatic with the engine. Mine is an auto and it does it's work well. I pull a car trailer with my Vette and get 15 MPG going from NY to Pocono. I use it in work and load it very heavy and still get 13 MPG. I never had a vehicle with no problems like this.

From some of the posts you would think the Dodge is built like a Yugo or a Fiat. This has not been my experience at all. I have had very good experience with the product.

I don't care for my local dealer, but that's another issue.

River town eh? Anewman, you should contact Whitmore, he's just up the road in Shoshoni, you could go for a ride in his rig (I think it's an '01) if that doesn't give you the itch for a new Dodge, I'm not sure what will. I shouldn't speak for Kevin, but he's the type of guy that would at least take ya for a ride!

MAK keep away from my truck with that chain!

Man you guys are killing me.

I traded a '98 CTD for an '02 Tundra,so I guess I'm going the other way.

Hey MAK,I hope you remember me from Scheid . I miss a CTD but I'm not crazy.
