Indiana to Colorado

My cousin is wanting me to make a trip hauling a load out to Colorado. We don't do this for a living it is just a on time deal. Here are my concerns, assuming the load is not overweight, is there any special insurances to look into, or will we get into emissions trouble with my modified truck. The other thing since we are for hire do we need dot numbers? Any input is greatly appreciated.

If it is for hire, I suspect a lawyer would say you would need both commercial insurance and DOT numbers. However, I'm certain a lot of people don't and never get caught.



Regarding the modified truck again I'm not a lawyer but if it is street legal in your state I don't think there will be an issue as long as you don't stay anywhere for an extend period of time.

Thanks for the replies, but found out the load was overweight. I will keep the different insurances in mind if the occasion ever comes up again.

WHere in colorado are you going?

We were going to be about 50 miles north of Denver. The press we were going to haul ended up weighing about 18,000LBS by itself. Just a little heavy.
