Installed a Phat Shaft 62 this past weekend. Was wondering if anyone knows what the wastegate is set at from II - and more importantly, how to adjust it (which way to turn the nut)?

Thanks in advance for your help,

Jason

I just installed the same thing last weekend. They told me it's supposed to be set at 50. Don't know about changing it. Which way are you wanting to go?

Kevin

Thanks Kevin - appreciate the reply. Haven't really put the coals to this turbo yet (trying hard to show restraint while it breaks in) - highest boost pressure I'm seeing with the EDGE HOT JUICE on 4 is 36. I suspect that I should be in the low 40's with the EDGE on 5. If not, was looking for some info on how the adjust the wastegate to get there.

That screw in the elbow really only will adjust in and if you try to unscrew it, it will fall out.

I just installed a full flow elbow in mine. I was boosting a little too high!

Mine was installed last week, put about 500 miles on it before I lite it up. Edge Hot Juice/Attitude(180hp) and EZ(level 3) stack I can push 45-46psi and holds so far. Havent really seen over that yet.

Full flow, you mean like a stock elbow? What did you take it down to? I'm thinking I'd rather be closer to 45 than 50. I got into it a little today, ez on 1, tst on 3/4 and hit 45 without trying. Guess I'll have to wait and see.

Re: Phat Shaft Turbos

We install the boost fittings for those that want to raise boost pressures. To adjust boost pressures down then you would want to lengthen the actuator rod. Or you could take the adjustable boost fitting out and install a normal elbow with a barb. Also if you are sure that you want 40psi max then we do have a spacer plate that allows the waste gate to open farther. Hope this helps. Thanks

Thanks, that's useful. As of now I don't want to adjust it down. The highest it has gone is 48lbs so far. I just don't want it to be any higher than that.

And now that we have your attention. I'm happy overall with the turbo, it sure would have been nice if the exhaust manifold gaskets had been included with the manifold, and the gasket for the turbo exhaust had been there too. Also would have saved time if the 2 bolts for the turbo had been included, since there are no studs. Had to drive to the store in the middle to get some bolts.

Phat shaft 62

I also installed a II Phat Shaft 62 this past weekend. Is there really a break in period on this turbo, and does anyone know what the max boost this turbo can take? Have my tst/ez stacked and want to know how hard I can push this turbo. Noticed that the boost elbow has an adjuster, think that should help the boost by tighning it. Love it so far.

Kevin, mine came with all the gaskets and bolts. You should call and ask why yours didn't come with it. It only makes since for them to send it to you.

I would imagin that the Phat Shaft can take more boost then your head gasket would be happy with. At what psi is the Phat Shaft most effective?

Clayton, Yes I'm wondering what psi is the most effective and what's the most psi anyone has pushed out of one of these turbos. I want to know what I can expect from this turbo.

We set all PS62 waste gates to start opening at 40 lbs of boost unless you specify otherwise when ordering. Most top out around 45 to 48 lbs depending on fueling conditions.

Sorry about the missing parts. You did ask for the exhaust manifold gkts. They don't come in the manifold kit but we were going to send them any way. Guess it didn't happen. We are very sorry about that. We did send some out later but we always try to be 100 percent when filling orders. We have been reusing the turbo bolts on the out side bolt holes and putting the studs in the back holes. If you think new would be better then by all means we will send those also. If there is any other problems please let us know. Thank you all! Brady www.industrialinjection.com

Re: Phat Shaft 66, 62

The highest boost pressure that we have heard of from customers is 68psi. We know that much boost would take a lot of fuel. That is why we install the extreme duty bearings. We always do what we can to make our products bullet proof. So far things have been very good and you can expect a great turbo. The waste gate actuator is set at 40psi to open on third gen. The adjustable boost fitting adds 8-10 psi. On second gen. the actuator is set at a little less and then the adjustable boost fitting increases the boost 8-10psi. The Phat Shaft 62 is also a great turbo. We keep talking about the Super Phat Shaft 66 and forget that our 62mm turbo is very impressive as well. The 62mm is quicker spooling at very low rpm and will support up to 550hp. But if your looking for big hp then that is when the Super Phat Shaft 66 is king. Hope this info helps. Thanks

Let me add that the sps66 in now way detracts from the daily driveability of my truck. If you mash the go pedal it takes longer to light than the stocker, but oh boy what a fire!! If you just roll into it there is no perceptable difference from stock. Thanks for a very cool product Brett!

I know this post doesn't address the thread question, But I'm very impressed with this turbo!

I love mine. Normal daily driving with the boxes turned down low is not really different from stock turbo. On the drag strip tonight with the boxes up all the way made 8 runs all in the 13. 8s(13. 810 - 13. 887). EGTs did not go over 1260* that I ever saw. AND I was told from the watchers that it sounded awesome.

RE: Phat Shaft Turbos

Thanks for your feed back. We love hearing from you and about your success. We have a lot of other great products. Let us know if we can ever help. Thanks

I would have reused the bolts if there were any. I had two studs on the manifold and 2 studs on the turbo. The holes on the new turbo were too big for the stock studs.
