PS: hope your healing better than my typing :p --- reminder: no oil wars since all you gots is time to "edumacate" us ;)

The material I used is a piece of 90 degree underground drain made of polyproplene plastic. Just cut a hole with a saber saw, install and secure with RTV sealant. I purchased this at Home Depot for less than $3. 00. Already had the sealant. It realy does make the truck "breath" easier.

Ram Air!!

Wayne, If you extend the hose to the front and find a place to draw cool air you will have made a Ram Air" system!i:cool:

Amsoil Bypass and Air box Mod

Hi Amsoil Man!

I also bought a 2003 and installed the Dual Bypass system under the drivers floor on the frame. I had to extend the kit hoses but I am pleased with my set up. On the airbox, when is Amsoil going to get a filter fit our 2003's?

Gozier,

I just talked to Tech services today, and they informed me that it will be very very soon, as they had just had a meeting this AM concerning the airfilter for the 2003 CTD's.

OK ams man... ..... educate me why you did this ( since mine is also on order and i have nothing to compare your pics to) Is it a larger OD pipe then stock heading out of the filter box?

91 w250 4x4 ... ... . 265,000 and still humming (for sale by the way) 03 quad 2500, HO 6spd, 4x4 lwb, slt leather on orderOo. oh boy oh boy oh boy

rossiride,

The added pipe is about 4"Di. and is bringing in air from the outside to the filter. This is in addition to the air intake on the side of the airbox. If you look at the first picture, you will see the other opening as well. The reason I did this was to get additional air to the airbox.

The stock hole where it draws air is pretty small. I'm guessing that's a big part of why the filter minder gets drawn down to 35% with a new filter. I just did this same mod tonight but haven't had a chance to horse the engine to see how far the filter minder moves now. In any case, it just seemed like a good thing to do. I thought about just leaving the hole (no pipe) but it looked like water might splash up there so the pipe serves as a splash guard in addition to getting air from a cooler part of the underhood area.

My filter minder was at 60% or so before this mod (at only 4700 miles) even though the filter still looks to have a lot of life left in it. After the mod it is now about 10%. I'm happy; it was a worthwhile half hour spent.

I've never been able to pull my FM down. Must have the new recalibrated (stiffer) spring

When I dynoed a couple weeks ago I did a run with the stock airbox then the second with the filter disconnected (wide open). Only gained 2. 3hp. But of course on the dyno you get no ram-air, cool air induction effect.

Just a heads up here guys and gals... be careful how much air you force into the stock box via Ram Air with a panel filter like it uses. ;)
